Just an amazing Mooney!

...and the right seat is really comfortable, too!   Thanks again for the great flight yesterday on Mooney Monday, John.

My wife and I fly to Hilton Head a couple of times each year.  I still can't find that airport  at night  until I'm right on it.

Did you have a major wing reskining on the right wing and looks unpainted skin on the tail?

A previous owner didn’t tie her down well and she got blown into a hangar.  Now “Raggedy Anne” has character to match her name.

Given all this talk of factory closing, did you order new skins from the factory or custom make them?

The damage was done four owners prior to me and repaired three owners prior, sometime back in the mid 90's.  That said, the skins look to me to be custom made since you can still faintly see the material type printed on them.

You’re telling me she’s been in this Raggedy Ann condition for 25 years and none of the previous owners or yourself has bothered to paint it?! I would have at least rattle can some reasonably matching paint on to her.

I for one like polished planes.  I say strip it and find a shop that’s polished a P51 up.  You might even get mistaken for one when arriving at Oshkosh if you do the Warbird arrival!

:D Yep, if Raggedy Anne gets painted, she loses her name, her character, and her story.  Heck, I'd probably lose my call sign... "Patches."

Paint is the last thing I will ever upgrade on her.  Only after she has all maintenance issues fully taken care of, all safety upgrades I can come up with, all panel upgrades I want, avgas to get to every destination on my bucket list, the interior redone, and I've run out of things to spend my money on... then it would be time for a new paint job! ;)

P.S. I did take her to the local paint shop and asked if I needed to paint her to prevent any damage or corrosion.  He said "Nope, only paint her if you want to change the way she looks."

Except we have non metallic cowls, wingtips, etc (at least the J does)

Eh, that’s true.  Maybe the (cough) Chrome vinyl for the cowl and black wingtips. Actually, the cowl probably needs to be a different color than polished anyways for glare reduction.

And for the record, I have seen nothing but beautiful airplanes in this thread.  Don’t anybody ruin it with a 172 now...... I kid I kid.

I know I already posted a pic of our E, but I just came across another photo of our plane... parked on the ramp next to my A&P's C (he also owns an M22, I believe).   We feel pretty fortunate to have a mechanic on our small field who knows Mooneys, especially as ours goes in for annual in a couple of weeks.
