Pritch Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 Landed at Hayfork CA (F62) today so my boss could fix and electrical problem on a Seneca today and this poor Mooney was sitting in the tiedown area. It has been there since 1992. Pritch Quote
StevenL757 Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 Was there a tail number visible? I think that poor plane needs a big hug and some TLC...no Mooney should sit there like that. Poor thing... Quote
Marauder Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 And you guys talk about me posting fat women photos. What about this guy posting naked Mooney photos? 3 4 Quote

Jerry 5TJ Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 Perhaps a new topic titled "Derelects of the Fleet" -- This one has been at Freeway for decades. 1 Quote
Skates97 Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 I have seen a few on the ramps at various airports. The saddest one I saw was back in March in Mesquite, NV. I think it had been there for quite awhile. Quote
xcrmckenna Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 I hate to add to this thread, but on my way home from Texas after buying my plane. I found this one tucked back in a corner at Redding California. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
carusoam Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 Looks like an example of a twisted wing on that one... ^^^ Best regards, -a- Quote
Guest Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 It's "death row". Every airport has one. Clarence Quote

That looks like a mid-body with 201 cowling, McCauley propeller, and no wingtips. My guess is either an F with a modified cowling or (more likely) a 1977or 78 M20J. Quote
Kyle N Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 This is such a depressing thread! 1 Quote
Firebird2xc Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 Like corpses left to rot. This has never sat well with me. Quote
rbridges Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 unless you damage it without insurance and can't afford to fix it, why? maybe an expensive repair blind sides you? I understand the sentimental hopes that you'll get back in the air, but c'mon. After several months, you'd think the idea of selling it would cross your mind. Quote
Andy95W Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 I've seen it for years at various airports around the country. Usually it involves an owner that is convinced their airplane is worth thousands more than it actually is. The guy that owns the 201 probably has seen other airplanes being advertised for $80-100k, so he figures that's what his is worth. Someone comes along and offers $25k and he thinks they're just trying to screw him. And all the while, he's paying a tie-down fee every month. 1 Quote

glafaille Posted September 13, 2017 Report Posted September 13, 2017 There is one at my field, I think it is a 201. Been sitting outside untouched for 10 years according to the "old timers". I'm told it is the result of a partnership gone sour, a big fight over a maintenance bill. Quote

Specifically a 78-80 model. Not a 77. Quote
