Hi Guys;

New to the site. What great information. Can somebody recommend an interior shop in the Northeast. I have searched the topic but can only come up with one in Florida. Hoping to find one much closer. Based out of Massachusetts

I'd get in touch with Rico - he recently posted his interior, has done a few projects and the work looks to be top quality.  He indicated in his post that he may be interested in doing some interior work for others.  Located in the KORF area.

I know of one mid-Atlantic shop that has a reputation for screwing panels through wiring harnesses.

Otherwise you can do what Andrew did - send your stuff off for refit and refurb.

Airtex is an option, but expensive for what you get (side wall carpet is sold separately from floor carpet).

If the plastic is shot, Bruce Yaeger's spatial interiors look great and is relatively economical compared to the piecemiel panel replacement you'd do with plane plastics for thousands more (yes a 1x3 piece of molded abs cost me over $100).

Almost any car interior shop will do your seats. Just don't advertise that they are aircraft seats.  Keep that to yourself and ensure that the material s are up to CAR-3 or FAR snuff.

I redid mine with a bunch of sweat equity. Issue is it's a never-completed project.  There's always something more to be done or improved. The fun part is that I know exactly what got done, how and I took my time.  Therefore I'm pretty happy with the results.  The quality of the work is not perfect, but much better than that of the stuff I took out.  If you do it yourself, I'm happy to recommend sources for materials.

Welcome aboard GG.

In a few posts we just about covered all the suppliers of materials.

Plastic, leather and carpet...

Andrew's resource for shop may be a bit too far north east for you. In The Old England...That is...:)

Can you add where you are based to your avatar? Or simply add e or w MA...

There have been many Mooneys updated around MS.  The important part is starting with the right material suppliers first.

Another supplier that hasn't made this list yet is SCS.

Some of the suppliers fall into different categories of affordability. If you have a feeling for your budget and depth of what you want done, that would help...

Andrew liked his Mooney so much it is getting a second life.

Other people around here have described their maintenance of the plastic pieces, like fixing cracked plastic and paining it.  Others have coated things in a modern fabric. Some have posted their sewing skills recently...

how involved would you like to be?

Best regards,

-a-

Thanks Guys for your input.

So, I do not have the skill or patience to take out and then install a new interior. My ultimate goal is to fly the plane to a reputable shop and have them remove the old side panels, roof liner and insulation and then put it back together with the new materials.

I talked with one shop in PA and he quoted $11k for the project. He was recommended by a company that paints planes. He only had one review that I could find and it wasn't good. Granted it was 8 years ago. Also, he changed the name of the business about seven(?) years ago. So not feeling too comfortable with him.

A trip across the pond would be fun but....

Bruce Jaeger is in MN so a wee bit of an inconvenience.

Maybe I have to go to FL.

I do appreciate all the input

I just had the beautiful Jaeger interior system - it looks good and give more room - his interiors STC system.  And I had the SCS interiors do the upholstery in a beautiful "umber" leather with perforated back holes.  And I had them make the bottom cushion a little bit longer to accommodate my longer legs.

Another huge thumbs up for Hector at AeroComfort. You have your shop take out whatever you need redone, crate it up and send it to San Antonio, It comes back well within the promised time frame, is put back together, and voila, a whole new airplane. I got seats covered in super nice leather, with extra cushioning for a vertically challenged pilot, the cracked and yellowed Royalite recovered with fake leather, new carpet, and leather-covered glare shield. Years later, I am still so very pleased! The shop's professionalism, meticulous craftsmanship, and courtesy were amazing. And, as I recall, not out of line compared to other quotes.  But so happy, I don't remember what I paid, only that it was well worth it.

Here is what N10933 looks like following the install of Bruce Jaeger's Interiors STC plus the SCS leather.  I have a date with the paint shop April 24 - and I will do an aerocomfort leather yoke at that time.

Erik- looks really great.  Does the new interior really add space?  Does it "feel" like it's wider?

(I'm trying to decide on this interior myself.)

Thanks.  It really does add a bit more space for the elbows - which is well appreciated for any "larger than an FAA average 170lbs American" as am I.  Jaeger's system adds a bit more elbow room and general space - which makes it the best choice for my dollar vs all the other superb interior redo's out there - but also it is very clean and nice looking - love all the pockets - 7 of them - and it does simplify the inspection aspects as the stuff is better for removal and reinstallation like at annual.

Thanks one and all. I contacted Aero Comfort and received their Price List. Based on good experiences shared here stripping and shipping my interior sounds like the right option. Didn't realize that could be done. Just goes to show what a valuable forum this is.
