Anyone have any experience or suggestions for a female headset or maybe child headset? Better half is petite and has very narrow face.

Wearing my older DC the boom mic went completely past her mouth. Little adjustment it can work but not necessarily comfortable. (Could also be the DC I own)

My small wife likes her DC H13-4 (I think). Standard DC, stereo sound, volume control on each ear. She does use the gel pad ear cups, though, and tears them sometimes with earrings. She won't consider an in-ear headset, although I love my Halos and told her they won't give her headset hair.

She doesn't wear hats because most of them fall loosely around her ears. Have found a couple of child-sized hats that she tolerates in the plane and convertible because they make it more pleasant.

I purchased my wife a Clarity Aloft headset while at Sun N Fun this year. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical, but she truly finds them much more comfortable than the Lightspeeds. She was getting headaches from the pressure of the headset "clamping" around her head. The rep gave me multiple sizes of the ear inserts, my wife uses the smallest ones as she is petit.

My fiancée (petite) and my 11 yo daughter (looks 15) both like to wear my David Clark DC Pro-X Headset.  The on ear smaller cups fit well and don't squeeze tight.  The noise canceling is good, but not as good as my Bose.  But they prefer the more comfortable DC's.

All those headsets are way too heavy and cumbersome for a lady (or for anyone for that matter). Halo doesn't weigh anything, is pretty quiet, and doesn't interfere with glasses, canulas, hats, or hair. No sweaty ears. I use them primarily because of the voice clarity. Wife uses them because they are very well suited for a lady.

And on long cross country's we can just take them off entirely and eat while still hearing and having ear protection (same vid but later part):

My wife has a Clarity Aloft for the same reasons as mentioned...mostly so they won't mess up her hair! It is crucial to use the correctly sized in-ear piece, however. Otherwise they don't form a good seal and they are useless.

Look at the Quiet Technology Halo too.  After my wife's in ear Lightspeeds quit I bought her these, no complaints. There are also quite a few guys out there that give great reviews (as seen on Beech talk and personally seeing them in the field) I believe there is a money back guarantee (call and speak with him) AND the owner of the company is a Mooney Owner. He is an ear Doctor and lives in Mississippi.

i haven't tried them yet but plan on it. There is supposed to be a learning curve, 3 or 4 flights but that may only apply to someone that flies with headsets a lot.

edit, just saw the above post...another good review

Also notice 201er pulling up on each ear while inserting the ear piece. That's supposed to be a great help in sealing the noise out.

Love my Halos! Won't ever go back to the heavy head-clamp sets again, and don't care for the weird sensation accompanying ANR headset (nor the weight nor the clamp pressure).

Pulling up on your ear helps straighten the ear canal and is very beneficial when inserting any ear plug, even the ones I wear at work.

I think the Clarity Aloft is TSO'd but he Halo is not......

for those that may decide to buy them for 121 ops.....

Clarity offers a non-TSO version that sells for $525 (called the Classic), a TSO version called the Pro for $695, a TSO Pro Plus version for $725 and a non-TSO version with Bluetooth for $795 (called the Link).

Halo is not TSO.

Nice flight.  Do you have long range tanks?  I wouldn't make it 1012 miles on 65 gallons.  I have plotted the same flight, but would have to stop for fuel somewhere along the way.

I really like the Lightspeed Tango Wireless Headset. Not only is the headset small-ish, but there are no wires to contend with. I love the clarity, the bluetooth technology and of course the aforementioned wireless capability.  $800 for an ANR isn't bad either!

Yep, those little gray silicone tips work great for me. The fit immediately when put in [no waiting for them to swell up, and they don't push themselves out because they are rolled into a cone instead of a cylinder, and they don't get hard in cold weather]. I keep the leather case on the hatrack, but don't think they've been in it but once since new, when I left the plane for tank reseal and flew the aluminum mailing tube home.

So... I tried all but the little pinkish tips and wasn't happy with the noise reduction quality of any. I'm going to give it a go at making some out of 33db NRR plugs from the gun shop. Anybody have luck with this?

Did he include any of the black ones with the new headset? They work for me.

Yes, the black ones were included. They are comfortable, but NRR is sub par. My solution is Howard Leight 33NRR shooters plugs. I stripped the foam off the pinkish tips that came with the headset and installed the tube in the HL plugs. Flew for a bit over an hour with them today and the noise reduction is comparable to my Bose A20's. 6e99261d0f1d17955233e0fa0001e070.jpg6b2db03b9abee043946dad559af695b2.jpg
