bnicolette Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Nice job Mike. Weird seeing an engine at the front center of the plane. Was that the parachute you took off in the very beginning? Quote

Oscar Avalle Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Really a great idea. What camera are you using? I don't see the prop effect. Quote
Danb Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Checked out the Oct log..nice job... Quote
Marauder Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 just look at the fuel flow Brett, just look at the fuel flow! I heard Brett had an eye exam done since he thought he was experiencing double vision when reading his fuel flow. Doctor told him he his vision is fine -- the same can't be said about his fuel flow... 1 Quote

Oh wait that's right........You're grounded until the weather clears. Quote
carusoam Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Must be a jet powered J. The prop is missing! And Pop is missing! There is only a tiny/small indication of flashing related to the prop. A sliver of passenger blue jeans got caught on film. Must have paid a ton 'o' dough for the professional film crew and equipment! Nice video, -a- Quote
dfgreene61 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Mike, just want to say I'm a fan of your videos. The trips you take in your 201 inspire me to widen my horizons. Thanks for sharing your love of flight. Quote
Marauder Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Hey you guys want to fly somewhere for dinner tomorrow night? Oh wait that's right........You're grounded until the weather clears. We may be grounded tomorrow -- but some bird guy has flown his fuel sipping, single engine, non-FIKI Mooney further places than some gas guzzling, twin engine, FIKI equipped Baron no bird guy. 1 Quote
MB65E Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Looks good Mike!! Nice airmanship! -Matt Quote
flyboy0681 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 You looked cold. I flew on Monday and was sweltering. Quote
TWinter Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Mike, I've gotta say I agree with dfgreene61. I've watched several of your videos. I'm inspired and impressed...Please keep posting them Brett, yours are awesome as well. It was easier to live vicariously when you had the Mooney, knowing I can't open my checkbook to a twin I'll just keep watching your videos. Quote

And for that last comment you are hereby elected Cheap Bast$&d of the month for living vicariously through others who aren't so cheap. Congratulations! I would send you a trophy but I am too cheap to buy one and certainly too cheap to mail it to you. But just know that other Cheap Bast$&ds appreciate your good work! 3 Quote

Without question!!! He is my hero. Gotta say though that I've spent less this year on my gas guzzling machine than I did last year on my gas sipping beautiful "J". Of course all expenses other than fuel were divided by 2 thanks to a partner. Time for the Super Decathlon now. 2 Quote
PTK Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Nice video Mike. Have you memorized the entire checklist? Very impressive! Quote
Hank Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Brett, I'm sorry to hear that your personal flying has been so drastically reduced! My own was low fron Nov-June, but things are back to normal now. Something about extended annual, new pucks, waiting on tools, new job down South, plane stuck in bad weather in WV, crazy working hours, etc. but I've tamed the beast and now only need to find permanent housing in the new year. Hope you get back in the air! MIKE-- Is that how you get in the plane every time? It looked rather gymnastic. Not sure that would work in my C, but the J doesn't have any more front seat room does it? Unless they slide back further. Great video, though. You have a good cinematographer, though. Congrats on your Directorial debut! Quote

Hope you get back in the air! Actually my personal flying was about the same just more point A to B pointed trips as opposed to just taking the bird out of the hangar for a round robin. We did a lot of family vacation flights this year plus a lot of commuting to work. 89.3 hours since March in the Baron. The Super Decathlon will fill the void of just pulling the airplane out because I feel like flying. We're on the prowl for one and have room for one more partner if anybody close to us is interested. bnicolette Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Mike, Why when you were landing was there a big split on what I assume are your EGT's? Your JPI was flashing/alerting you to it and it was upwards of 370? Is that normal on your engine? Quote
201er Posted November 27, 2014 Author Report Posted November 27, 2014 Mike, Why when you were landing was there a big split on what I assume are your EGT's? Your JPI was flashing/alerting you to it and it was upwards of 370? Is that normal on your engine? I've been wondering about that too. The way Byron explained to me is that when idle, some of the thingies don't close all the way. Can't remember how he explained it but I remember discussing major idle EGT variations on the ground and this just seems to be a case of that while idle on final. Can someone explain this better? Or is it a problem? Quote
