I just learned through reading this forum that rudder extension pedals are available. I am 5'6" and need them. Does anyone have a set for sale or know where I can get some?

Thanks,

Bob

The rudder extensions come in two lengths.  I've have had them both, and they work well, depending on how close you sit to the yoke. If you use the longer ones, be careful while landing that you don't inadvertently press on the brakes.  I suggest you call LASAR.

See attached pedal extension bracket drawing. To extend the rudder part you bolt the pedal itself to the forward hole and the brake link to the bracket. The longer the bracket the easier to reach the top (brakes). You can make the bracket with three brake holes to fit best one for you. You can make the bracket out of 1/8" 6061 aluminum. Just take the pedal out to figure out dimensions. This is a good Sunday afternoon project.

I have a set I would like to sell but I can't recall if they are 1.5" or 3". If anyone is interested I can check the drawings on size and let you know.

I am 5'00". I there any hope of me flying a Mooney safely if people that are 5'6" are needing extensions?

If you have the articulating seats and pedal extension should be no problem at all. The seat adjust forward and height for over the panel forward view. Because of the glareshield extension in front of the panel by the warning annunciator panel you may not be able to see the landing gear warning light if the seat is set to high and too close. It is not really a problem except you may have to lean down to see the annunciator panel. Also pull the yoke back to make sure it clears your belly. You may be short but not lean.
