I think this was an advertisement photo. Which airport do you think this is? San Antonio? Austin?

Mooney Advet.jpg

Kinda looks like the old terminal in San Antonio

CORRECTION: As pointed out below, it's an early picture of Houston Intercontinental.

Who gets to park their Mooney sideways in the middle of a taxiway at a major air carrier airport and have a business meeting on that taxiway? And how did that guy get out on the taxiway to meet him?

That is Houston Intercontinental new terminals which just had opened June 1969.  That is the old control tower that was decommissioned in 2019.

First official flight at IAH took place 50 years ago this weekend | Houston Airport System (fly2houston.com)

What is the prop plane in the background?

That is a Convair 240 converted to a "600" with Dart turboprop engines.

Texas International Airways was called Trans -Texas Airlines prior to changing their name in 1969.  The advertisement shows the Convair in "TTa" colors.

And who can climb into their Mooney wearing a stiff wool suit and tie?!  In Texas heat no less?!

Can you imagine wearing a suit getting into an un-airconditioned plane in hot, humid Houston?  What a marketing imagination.

This one is even better.  An M20B Mark 21 - It looks like a clown car....how many more will be getting out?  With plenty of briefcases and audit bags....

And if the first guy is carrying a big leather traditional pilot's bag, I wonder who's lap it sat on during the supposed flight....

Do we have a folder by any chance where old advertisement pictures can be stored?  They are really cool!!!

As far as I know, all files (including images) are "owned" by the poster -- there are no files "owned" by the forum.  BeechTalk has a huge archive of documents that are apparently curated by the admin, and not subject to the whim of the original poster.

It's not just the "whim" of the original poster.  Somethings were lost when Mooneyspace changed web hosting platforms a while back.  Also the new platform is much more limited in total file size so you have to dump some of your old attachments from time to time if you post much.

Those Rolls Royce Dart engines (also on the Fokker F27 and HS748) are real screamers. Those two men would’ve needed hearing protection.
