I know LEDs have been discussed a lot... but I cant figure out if I have a par 36 or par 46 landing light and cant get to the plane to measure... Mooney m20c 1968.

Anyone used these? https://www.aero-lites.com/product-page/ultra-g2-spot before? seems better than a whelen parmetheus plus and half the price 9no STC) Hard to tell if they would be easy to install of if I would need some sort of adapter.

Thanks...

If they are small enough to mount in the wing’s leading edge… 36

If they are so big they only fit in the nose… 46

if you have two in the place that used to have a 46, that is a pair of 36s…

If you want to use a measuring device..

One is three inches and some parts… the other is four inches and some parts…

:)

Let’s invite the light guru to supply an answer….  @OSUAV8TER

Chances are… from the pic in your avatar… you have one landing light on the nose… none in the wings.

Keep in mind… our light guru reps Whelen lights… so you might get a sales speech and an actual comparison with the other lights… much better than guessing…

PAR 46 for my '65 M20C.  It' s a WAT Parametheus P46G3L. Hope that helps a bit. Sorry I can't offer info re: aero-lites

If it's 36/8 inches, it's a PAR 36.  If it's 46/8 inches, it's a PAR 46.

Got to love this ancient standard…  too hard to remember, to complex to get right…

How hard would it be to use their actual dimensions in conversation?

4.5” and 5.75”

:)

@rwabdu The Whelen G3 outperforms the Aerolite by quite a bit and since you only have one landing light, you will enjoy having the best one on the market. It is going to be twice as bright, if not more than that Aerolite.

how about the G3 compared to the parmetheus pro par 46? Maybe i should return my Areo-lites then... either way probably an improvement form my traditional bulb..

Very poor runway lighting and no papi where I've been flying into lately so figure i should get something good.

Thank you!

The g3 is better than the Pro and it is cheaper. The Pro is a previous generation technology so I do not recommend it.

I sent back the Areo-lites and ordered the G3 on your advice. Thanks very much!

Surprising at how hard it is to get any facts about these led landing lights, even those from within the same company.

Did you order through my website? I do not see it.
