Eraaen Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 I am aware that Aero Comfort will repair/recover glare shields (its the weekend/I haven't called them) but the shield in my Rocket is warped, busted up, it looks like multiple attempts have been made to repair it. it looks okay installed, it has been recovered but, still all bent up. I think it is a lost cause. Does anyone know of a replacement source or have experience with Aero Comfort on a shield that is all jacked up? Quote
anthonydesmet Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 Call Hector, send him a pic. He can repair anything and make it look great. I wouldn’t worry. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 The Ashby shield would be a good base for someone who was good with fiberglass to use to modify to fit the 231. It will last forever. It is sturdy as hell. I have one. It doesn’t fit as good as the original, but when the Mooney is rusting away in some salvage yard in the next century, the glare shield will still be good. Quote

The price is certainly right. Jim https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/mooney201.php That appears to be an old glareshield without the “hump” 201’s have the hump, at least 81 and on do Quote
ArtVandelay Posted December 19, 2022 Report Posted December 19, 2022 For a second I thought the subject line was the price. Quote

I am reasonably sure that Hector has done glareshields in worse shape than yours. I have had him do a beautiful job on glareshields on a couple of the Mooneys that I have owned. Quote

Given aviation prices lately, you would be forgiven for making such an understandable mistake. I have a glareshield by Hector at AeroComfort and it looks fantastic! I do not know what it looked like previously but there is a repair or two he obviously made before the reconditioning. Quote
