Pinecone Posted November 7, 2022 Report Posted November 7, 2022 They came in my 252/Encore. With full fuel, I still have almost 500 UL. Taking the plane to Sarasota for some work, I did non-stop NE MD to KSRQ, into a headwind, and had plenty of reserve. Like many things, another tool in the tool box. You don't have to fill them, but you cannot fill your regular tanks more than they hold. 1 Quote
Mcstealth Posted November 7, 2022 Report Posted November 7, 2022 Jose's name sure gets used alot, especially when the urinary tract is mentioned. Sure wish he would poke his head in every once in awhile. Quote

I think my longest flight has been 4 1/2 hours and I had to be pried out! So, honest question: How many of you fly legs OVER 5 hours? (That's a flight at 10 gph, and giving better than a 1 hour reserve). NJ to Texas, Caribbean, Canada, Denver to NJ, and loads more. 2 1 Quote

My thoughts are really toward the value in an F/J. And how about for the C models like my 63 C that has 48 gal tanks. Not even blessed with the extra 4 gals.... 1 1 Quote

Now, no way… 4 hours max per flight. Wife’s likes 3 1/2 hrs or less. I’d like the extra fuel for options only. If I remember the Monroy tanks add ~36 gallons. I’d fuel those with 16 gallons (8 a side). Gives me additional reserve. -Don 2 Quote

When I was doing my twice-weekly 600 NM commute, having the Monroy tanks meant that I never had to sweat finding an alternate with VFR weather. Quote

Pinecone Posted November 8, 2022 Report Posted November 8, 2022 It was nice to non-stop NE MD to KSRQ, with hefty headwinds, without having to worry about maybe needed into stop. 73 gallons. Quote

That someone is José Monroy…. His ads in the MAPA magazine back in the day showed a graph of two planes going to a distant location… one had to stop for fuel, the other went direct… Best regards, -a- Quote
Urs_Wildermuth Posted November 9, 2022 Report Posted November 9, 2022 LOL, did he originate that one? Well, it so happens very rarely that advertizing has a grain of truth in it. 1 Quote

rbp Posted November 9, 2022 Report Posted November 9, 2022 my ship is 24 years old, and will probably need some work on the tanks in the next 5-10 years anyway. doing the tank upgrade could freshen them up before it needs it Quote
