I’m up in Duluth taking training at the other company.  This was a section of the ramp today.

New stock waiting for delivery, or...?

The United school here (formerly Lufthansa) has taken delivery of some new ones lately, I think.

Mostly new waiting on a trip to the customer delivery centre.  We were told a back log of almost 1000 piston and nearing 500 jets.  The ramp is littered with them.

Not exactly warm up here in summer.  Winter must have been a treat.

My dad worked construction and he said the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in Duluth

I interned up there for 8 months long ago... Starting the first week of January! I don't think we ever broke 80 before it started cooling down in August. Moving back to southeast Texas was very hard on my body until it cooled off in October!

I've never been back. That winter was enough. Lots of -40 temps and -70+ wind chill. I don't understand why people live there, at least year-round.

I lived 21 winters in Northern Minnesota and 5 in North Dakota before moving to Texas.

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." This astute statement has often been attributed to legendary American storyteller Mark Twain, with his characteristic hyperbole. Whoever first said it, he or she knew from whence they spoke.

...but who knows?  Maybe Mr Twain got the idea from a traveler from Duluth?

Ya'll come on down to Sweet Home! My Parr of Alabama gets a dusting of snow every several years . . . . .

Then again, we often have 80° days in March.

I'm sure my dad plagiarized it.

I’m from southern Canada.  About 1/3 of the US is north of me.

At one point there were lots of Lancairs (the certified ones) waiting for some avionics (Garmin screwed the pooch).  While they were waiting serenely on the ramp a nasty hail storm came through and damaged every one of them.  After that Lance Neibauer threw in the towel.

Now I have to go look at a map.  Used to think Alaska was pretty close to Washington and Oregon until I flew (commercial) up there a few times.  Sometimes the Mercator Projection maps are misleading.

EDIT:  Well that was unexpected!  All or part of 27 US states are north of the southern-most point in Canada:

I cross country ski almost every day for 4 months of the year.

And the most important thing on any cross country skiers mind - what kind of wax are you using?

You missed the opportunity to say something about ear wax.

Returned from a week of maintenance training at the Cirrus factory.  You guys will be happy to know that even Cirrus uses PRC to add additional sealing to their fuel tanks.

What’s that strange shinny composite material in the corner?

On the right side is the middle flap hinge fitting on the aft spar, bolted to the spar and the rib.  On the main spar is the jacking point/ tie down anchor.
