For what it's worth, Fox News Channel just reported that there was an engine fire in flight that forced the landing.

At least we know he didn't run out of gas.:)

Yeah, really well done by the pilot, engine fires in flight are scary.  Not surprised the Mooney protected its occupants.  Stout things, Mooneys.

If I understood that correctly...

Engine fire on departure leads to loss of power, emergency landing, and marriage... :)

(hmmm something sounds familiar about this...)

glad everyone got out OK it would be heart breaking watching your plane burn like that.

The ting crashed on a freeway and burned.  And the roll cage is still mostly intact.  Stout things, Mooneys.
