Punitive - inflicting or intended as punishment.  I certainly think punitive action is warranted given his actions.

It's about the way punishment is handed out that.  Someone suggested a slow and painful ramp check was in order. I could not disagree more.  If the man violated a rule, cite it and let that agency go after him.  As for an inspector playing vigilante, no thanks!

The Mooney pilot sounded Canadian to me, but it's tough to say for sure. Also, are we 100% positive that the comment came from the Mooney pilot? I listened to it three times and I couldn't tell for sure.

Finally, who hasn't had the unfortunate slip up and said something over the open mic that was really supposed to stay in the cockpit? I think before we condemn someone in this obviously trying circumstance, perhaps a bit of benefit of the doubt is called for. I've been cussed out over the phone many times, and it's never just because  the other person was a total jerk. There's always something going on that precipitates the reaction.

The ATC response was exactly what was called for...nothing. Let the guy blow off some steam, realize he may be dealing with other shit in the cockpit (maybe a wife or kid who really has to go to the bathroom) and call it a day.

F of, eh.... Those damn Canadians. Always loosing their temper!

How did the "Warbird"  Cessna L-19 get himself in a position where he is running critically low on fuel and is down to one mag without diverting?  Either he is making up a sweet story or he continues on to destination with known deficiencies and a deteriorating fuel state.

Oshkosh is a once-a-year event, creating even stronger and more frequent cases of Get-There-itis. Glad he made it alright . . .

Cocktail hour was coming and ATC didn't want to complete the paperwork required from a plane declaring the big "E"..... So he slid in the oldie....

Yes there seem to be a spat of incidents among  the OSH bound each year.  So long as everyone is safe and sound... Unfortunately there was a fatal incident at AGC for an OSH bound Yak last week.

I can just visualize it.  Mooney  xxx turn right 30* for traffic.    5 minutes later, Mooney xxx turn right 30* for traffic.  5 minutes later, Mooney xxx turn left 60* to intercept original course.  2 minutes later, Mooney xxx slow to 120 knots for traffic.,  3 minutes later, Mooney xxx turn left 30* for traffic.   Later, Mooney xxx turn back to original course.  Mooney complains, more diversions, and never approved back to cruise speed.   Mooney xxx, have a great day from Chicago center, I forgot, I'm Atlantic approach today.   silently " tell me to F off".

Could not have been a Canadian, we're far to polite.  We would have been apologizing for waking the controller.

Not a very smart thing to do since there aren't many airport options close and they can follow you on radar to your destination. There are FAA people at all the airports close by. Wouldn't surprise me if a friendly inspector was there to greet him and do a ramp check very, very, slowly. I hope all the paperwork was perfect.

The guy probably needs to be humbled.... but a ramp check is voluntary..ish. The inspector cannot delay you in any way if you do not consent to it. You might end up having to make arrangements to show requested/required documents, but if you have somewhere to be, they cant detain you or penalize you for that...

Am I the only one thinking it would be really ironic if the pilot was flying an "F" model?

From an Executive owner, F off NotarPilot you should just J off.

Steve -- do you have any videos on your strobes in action? I'm really debating the value and hassle of running that sync wire.

^^^^Best post of the thread.  So someone dropped an F bomb on the freq. Not the first and won't be the last.  The said bomb dropper was either ESL or trying to sound like he was ESL.  I can see feeling pretty annoyed if you're the first to get rejected after a 3hr XC but the guy after you who clearly mismanaged his fuel stores gets admitted.   If in fact it was the Mooney pilot, it was horribly unprofessional. However, no one can prove that.  Advocating the use of the state as an agent of revenge without a formal inquiry is a...pardon my language... F#(%!$& stupid and dangerous mindset!

What I learned most in this thread is how to get into OSH after they close the field. The whole "F bomb" radio transmit is really not that big of a deal IMO. Clearly the OSH controllers had their big boy pants on because they didn't even respond to it. The foul little outburst took a hell of lot less air time than Mr. "Warbird" and his "low on fuel and running on one mag" story.

The only Mooney owner reputation that I am aware of is the fact that we are the cheapest bast$#ds of all airplane owners. So cheap in fact that we carry pennies in our pockets that have Abe Lincoln's eyes popping out from us squeezing the penny so hard.

Here are a couple I carry around with me:

In Canada we no longer circulate the lowly penny, What's a Mooney pilot to do?

There are still plenty of Canadian pennies floating around down here.  Should we send you some?
