Greetings from Vienna/Austria

after months of searching for the right plane for my dad and me, we finaly agreed on this lovely
95' Mooney Ovation located in Denmark.

post-12821-0-42521900-1411396495_thumb.j

went there for a prebuy inspection and instantly fell in love.
as i've never seen a long body Mooney in person before, i was amazed about the size.
she's a lot bigger than i expected. And after getting in, i absolutely could not understand,
why people on other forums and local pilots kept telling me, that the cockpit is tight/pedals are to far back/can't see out while taxiing and BLA BLA BLA.
IMO there is plenty of space, the view is good and with my small 173cm, i can reach the pedals without any problems.

AF/Engine/Prop TT750h, compression 70 all around.
preowner installed a GTN750 and a GTX33ES transponder.

Welcome aboard Lukas,

It is good to have another Long Body owner here.

Your IP looks very similar to mine!

It may be helpful for you to find the other Mooney owners from Europe on MooneySpace.

Who is your supplier for transition training?

Best regards,

Welcome, and well done. May you have many hours and many years of happy (and safe) flying in her.

Like you I'm new to Mooney ownership and very happy I defied the common "wisdom" on how cramped the cockpit is supposed to be. Took my wife on a trip in our Ovation for the 1st time this past Saturday and she declared it positively luxurious :D (that is of course in comparison to the flying club's  Archers, but still :) )

Thank you all for the kind welcome.

My homebase is Vöslau and there are a few Mooney flyers who will help me with transition. (i hope)

Also the preowner will stay here for 2 days and give me a crash course.

Will have a look at all pages you suggested.

cheers,

Luke

Congratulations and welcome,

I too have a 95 Ovation and it was a bit of a shock to see our panels are exactly alike including the GTN750.

If you have little experience with this critter I highly recommend "Don Kay's" landing video and also to fly her light of fuel during training. (Helps in the transition )

Best and enjoy that KFC-150

Welcome and congrats. I would love to know how much you paid for her. I know the money and price subject is almost a taboo to talk about in Europe but I am very curious to compare. You don't have to share of course. We still like you.

Best 25+7 dollars you'll ever spend.

The message is dead simple and absolutely right - or rephrasing that: it worked for me.

During the approach pitch and trim for 80kts

Over the numbers at 75kts (+/- a few for weight)

At half a wingspan gently pitch up for landing attitude

Wait and she'll land herself so gently you hardly notice it

Grin a goofy grin taxiing all the way to the ramp (not part of Don's video or presentation - my editorial :) )

Robert

PS: Don Kaye is one of the better known Mooney expert instructors in the USA, he sometimes posts on this board as well

Congratulations Luke! Now we need pictures of Austrian aviation! You know, what the airports are like and what the view from the cockpit is. B)

Congrats !

I have been looking at that particular Mooney on the net, mostly because I'm a Dane and was in the market for a Mooney...the Ovation was a little out of range though - I was shopping for 231s

Are you keeping it on Danish reg. in Austria?  I guess there is no real reason to change as the Danish CAA is quite easy to work with.  I ended up with a German registered plane, which is a real pain and I might be changing.
