Brittain Altitude Hold

Does anyone have an Altitude Hold setup from Brittain that is collecting dust in the back of their hanger. I have the accuflight and accutrak system installed and now just need the altitude portion.

Good luck and hope you find one. If you don't find one you might consider a STec 30 Alt Hold. Works excellent with what you have. That's the combination I have and they work well together.

I had one of these installed almost 10 years ago by Brittain in Tulsa.  The price was very reasonable and the unit works well.  You might want to give Jerry Walters, the owner, a call if it is a reasonable distance from you.

I put one in a couple of years ago. It took about 6 months to find the components. The elevators servo was the hard thing to find. They either have to come from a Mooney or Navion. Also you want to find a brass trim indicator. Many of them are plastic and not repairable. I may still have a few left over parts.

The system is all vac operated with no electrical. It works reasonably well. There is just one trick, DO NOT open the storm window with it turned on. It senses cabin pressure to determine altitude and opening the window will give you a full down elevator deflection. The older planes came with the brackets already installed at the factory so it was easy to mount and connect up the servos.

I have been looking and waiting for Brittain to come up with the necessary components for about 3 years. Very hard to come by, I have the AccuTrak and AccuFlite in my Mustang and really would like to complete the install by adding the altitude hold portion. I made the provisions in my instrument panel when I made new panel too

Does anyone know anything about Ultimate Door Seals in California? I paid Craig in full for a inflatable door seal and he never sent it and now won't answer or return phone calls! Has anyone had contact with them recently?

Why is that?  Our airplanes are not pressurized.

Open your window in cruise. Just make sure that you are below 150 mph when you do so. [That's what my window is placarded for. "Do not open above 150 mph"] It will greatly increase the airflow through the cabin, and the sensor will read this as a pressure decrease.
