Someone posted this picture of headrests from a Dodge Caravan a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know what year Caravan they came from? I would like to get some for our Mooney before we do the interior.post-8308-0-02212500-1392735868_thumb.jp

IMO, you don't need to get some from a Caravan, and I'd be afraid of getting some gremlins from putting any Dodge part inside a Mooney!  :P

When I was home in TX over Christmas, I spent a couple hours in a junkyard scavenging headrests.  I ended up taking 4 headrests from a recent Jaguar, including the base grommets to hold them.  It was headed to the crusher soon so the owner didn't mind me cutting the seats to get the grommets out.  I also grabbed 2 fronts from a BMW 750iL and those have the folding "wings" on the headrest to really cradle your head.  The BMW ones were motorized, though, so they couldn't be easily adapted to a Mooney seat since the tubes were heavy and had no detents.  My plan is to graft the BMW headrest onto the Jaguar tubes for one pair, and use the regular Jaguar headrests for the other.

I plan to do all of this when I rebuild my salvage seats after getting the overhaul behind me, so it will be a few months before I can share some pictures of the project.

Just a thought. When I had my seats redone, in conjunction with the new leather, they rebuilt the seat frame and extended the top; so headrests without an adjustment.

Look in my gallery I have Toyota head rests and took them apart flipped the frame up and put a tension bolt in and put head rest back on and now there go high enough. Also heated tubes and bent forward in a vice so the head rests actually supports the head.
