  1. I like the idea of just using sheepskin as inserts without wrapping around the whole seat. Any ideas how to do that? I’ll check with a local interior shop.
  2. Chris, I should be there about 10:00-10:30.
  3. Chris, I will be at N57 on Wednesday, Aug 3rd. My friend is looking at a Cardinal RG. I’m interested in where you bought your covers. Thanks, Tim
  4. Thanks for the input. I’m just considering at this time and have not made up my mind yet.
  5. Good point that I didn’t think of….thanks.
  6. I’m considering getting sheepskin seat covers for my front seats since the leather is showing wear. I’m interested in any pros and cons and also the best source to get them from.
  7. Thanks for all of the responses. It’s not a financial issue, Avemco has been pretty reasonable. I was just hoping for Basic Med which would give me 4 years instead of a yearly Class 3. I was with Falcon and Starr insurance. They were the ones who did not renew. I’m going to contact Parker just to explore my options.
  8. Last year my insurance company dropped my coverage because they didn’t want to insure older pilots flying complex airplanes. I was able to get new insurance with Avemco, but they said no Basic Med and a Class 3 medical every year. Does anyone know of an insurance company that would insure me with Basic Med? I’m 80 years old, I fly about 150 hours a year and I have Basic Med.
  9. Has anyone upgraded a KFC 200 to the Aero Cruz 230? Any opinions?
  10. Thank you. I’ve received a lot of good information and will be able to make good decisions.
  11. Thanks Chris. I’ll know more after Oct 23rd. That’s when he’ll learn the final diagnosis. The bone marrow biopsy is Oct 23rd.
  12. Insurance requires Class 3 medical annually because of age as well as annual flight review. Who is Dr.Bruce Chien and how can he be contacted?
  13. A friend of mine was diagnosed with polycythemia vera which is a rare type of blood cancer where one’s bone marrow produces too much blood. Too many red blood cells and platelets. This causes the blood to thicken and flow slower, and can lead to clots. It can be treated with low dosage aspirin and phlebotomy, blood letting, as well as some other medications. Does anyone know if this will cause a failure of a Class 3 medical exam?
  14. They cannot succeed selling Ultras. They have to become very creative and competitive. I think they should resurrect the J and K models, load them up with experimental/certified avionics and market them aggressively and realistically.
  15. My KFC200 shuts off frequently with no apparent reason. Sounds like you may have a fix, thanks.
  16. My problem is different. The stall warning works, but after flying for a while there’s a weak sound over the headset. Sometimes it gets louder and annoying so I pull the stall warning breaker and it stops. My mechanic replaced the whole unit and it still happens. He thinks it’s a wire rubbing someplace. Still have not found it. Most of the time I fly with the breaker out. Any thoughts?
  17. I have an ‘80J with KFC200 autopilot. I get uncommanded disconnects with no sound alert. There seems to be no reason for the disconnect. I either notice the light is no longer on or the airplane is starting to turn. My avionics guy said there is a very weak magnet holding that switch in place and that could be failing. Any comments?
  18. Yes, I do have a separate CB that I could pull. I try that next time. Thanks
  19. Chris, you’re right I do have a CB. I’ll check it out if it fails again. We had a nice visit at Latrobe.
  20. I have experienced similar problems with the AHRS light coming on and autopilot going off. We have replaced the EA100 and the the cable connectors. That seemed to help for a while, but the problem is back again. I have a KFC 200 autopilot. Mike Studley said we should replace the Ethernet cable. I resolve the problem by holding the REV button for a hard shutoff, then turn off the switch. I wait 30-60 seconds and then turn the switch back on. It goes through the start up and then works fine. It’s like doing a hard shutdown on an iPad. I have a dual Aspen setup so when failure occurs I push the REV button on the MFD so I can keep all my information while I shut down the PFD. Has anyone replaced the Ethernet cable?
