I achieved a major flying milestone today:  My instructor signed off on both complex and high performance endorsements and turned me loose to fly my new Mooney all by myself.  I flew 1.1 hrs and loved every minute of it.

What a happy happy day for you Alan. I am so glad that you are just thrilled about your Mooney.  We are headed for a weekend of flying, so that will be wonderful. Many congratulations and way to go!!!

Alan:  It's a shame you aren't more excited about this great news.  ;-)  Congratulations on the get out of jail card.  I still remember my first solo flight in my Mooney.  Both fun and exhilarating to be free to zoom along on my own.  Have fun with your new found freedom!

Alan  Congrats to you. My first solo in my Mooney was a double pleasure.  I had not flown for almost 15 years befor buying my Mooney. After the flight review and checkout I had double the pleasure, First solo in 15 years and first solo in my new to me Mooney.  Talk about the pressure.  My instructor was out supervising a first solo for a student, then I reminded her that it was mine in 15 years, she was surprised and had not thought of it that way.  Very enjoyable for both of us in the end.

I had my first Mooney solo back in November of 2009, so I know well how you are feeling!!!  Fly the wings off of it!!!

Relax, you can't really fly the wings off of it. If you could, mine would have that problem. My first post-insurance-required dual was to take the wife out to eat, 3½ car hours or 1:15 by Mooney. That first flight is almost as memorable as my student solo, but was certainly much more enjoyable. Just the first of many trips not possible any other way. And I fly a slow(er) C-model. Seems like there's just no such thing as a slow Mooney . . .

My first solo was just trips around the pattern, and so was my first flight in my Mooney.  But the first solo cross-country mission, now THAT was FUN!

Also, my instructor was always reluctant to just stay in the teens for some reason, although we were up there for awhile when we flew the aircraft home for the first time, but the first solo trip up to 17,500, now THAT was REALLY FUN!  I got an idea of what a turbo is actually for.

Am looking forward to getting my Instrument early this summer, and then going up to the 20's just to say I did it.  That will be memorable also.
