donkaye Posted June 23, 2023 Report Posted June 23, 2023 We were really looking forward to attending MooneyMax 2023 again this year. We had made it to all the ones in the past. The trip to Texas has always been a great adventure and Maxwell Aviation in Longview has always put on a great show. All reservations were made and up to last week I still thought it was a possibility. At the last minute circumstances changed making it not possible for us to attend. I called Don and Jan with the disappointing news that we couldn't attend. It was then that I found out that the event would be streamed. I downloaded the Whova Application and jumped at the opportunity to attend in streaming mode. The lineup of speakers (including Bob Kromer) and variety of topics is top of the line. The event was extended an additional day this year, so there are still 2 more days of interesting topics. If you want to learn a lot more about your Mooney, avionics, news about the factory, risk management and a lot of other things, then I think it would be definitely worth it to sign up for the last 2 days. All the talks are being recorded so the first day's talks can be seen at a latter time. You can go to: https://www.mooneymax.com to register for the streaming. For the streaming it costs $149 and is a bargain at that price. I'm looking forward to all the talks over the next couple of days. 2 Quote
hubcap Posted June 23, 2023 Report Posted June 23, 2023 It has been a great learning experience thus far 2 Quote
PhateX1337 Posted June 23, 2023 Report Posted June 23, 2023 The Whova website won't let me register to watch recorded/the rest of the livestreams. Any chance I can still register so I can access the recorded sessions at least? Was hoping to make it this year as well but it didn't work out either. Thanks for the suggestion Don! Quote
hammdo Posted June 23, 2023 Report Posted June 23, 2023 Ditto, would like to register for the videos… Quote
MBDiagMan Posted June 24, 2023 Report Posted June 24, 2023 We have had great, informative speakers, but Bob Kromer raised the bar with a homer over the fence while the bases were loaded. Great conference. 2 Quote
DonMuncy Posted June 24, 2023 Report Posted June 24, 2023 We missed seeing you guys. Hope you will be able to stream it. Quote
Schllc Posted June 24, 2023 Report Posted June 24, 2023 https://whova.com/portal/registration/moone_202305/ Unfortunately, I could not make this event this year. I really wanted to go, first for the speakers and second to put faces to some of these personalities on mooneyspace. I was wondering why a streaming option wasn’t available for this event, so I went to the site and found that it actually is an option. The questions I have for who ever set up this web portal… Why wasn’t the virtual attendance option advertised? And…. Why is there a cutoff date to purchase the recorded content? Both of these points seem to be extremely revenue limiting, and somewhat pointless. Maybe there is a good reason, perhaps it’s just an oversight, but one would think the option to buy the recording should be open in perpetuity. Not that anyone asked, just my two cents. 1 Quote

donkaye Posted June 24, 2023 Author Report Posted June 24, 2023 I've already talked to Don about this, but have not received a response. Quote
Danb Posted June 24, 2023 Report Posted June 24, 2023 Don I missed the event as well, my back went out the night prior. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the recorded event also. Quote
RoundTwo Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 Returned home to Georgia yesterday from my first MooneyMax. Here are some of my thoughts. First off, I’m in total amazement of Jan Maxwell for putting this event together. It’s a Herculean task for sure and if anything went sideways, I never saw it. Secondly, all of the presenters did a great job. Of course everyone has different areas of interest so some were more interesting to me than others, but overall quality was very good. Weather…. Geez, did it get hot. I spent a fair amount of time outside being walked around the hotel grounds by Turbo, and I’m very thankful I don’t have to live in that heat and humidity. The best part of the entire event was getting to meet so many members of the Mooney family. And don’t kid yourself, it is a family. Having Frank and Misty Crawford there from Mooney was really great and I was one of the lucky ones to win Frank’s custom Mooney collage. It will definitely be getting hung up in the hangar. Getting to meet so many other mooniacs and MooneySpace members was great. I had met @hubcap previously at the Lexington PPP earlier this month but I finally got to meet @Pinecone and Don Muncy too. I’m sure I met other MS members, but without MS badging, it’s impossible to know. Maybe we need a secret handshake. It was a great event and I’m sure we’ll be back again. Quote

ta2too Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 I agree. Shoutout to Jan,Don,Paul,Jolie, Don Muncy, Frank and Missie, Richie for their tireless efforts that resulted in an incredible time. Can't wait until next year! Artie 1 Quote
Pasturepilot Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 Fun times all around. @RoundTwo we talked a time or two, the final time being as we were about to Uber to the airport yesterday. I did hear center handling you on a different freq at one point. You were probably up in the flight levels… I was down at 9,000. Nice to meet the bunch of y’all, and to learn some stuff along the way. Quote
DonMuncy Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 Yes, it was a great get-together. Not only for the knowlege, but getting to see everybody, and putting faces to names and avatars. As to the streaming of the sessions; as far as I know, this was a first for Mooney events. I bet it will get a lot better for next year. As to the secret handshake; I have always advocated using real names on MS, but a lot of people seem to disagree. Maybe we all need to make up our own name tags with MS names as well as our own, for wearing to events. If only the weather would cooperate, maybe we could have more of a turn-out. Hope to see everyone and even more at the Summit and next year at MooneyMax. 1 1 Quote

No, we weren’t in the flight levels, but at 7,500’, with my VFR brethren. It was a nice tailwind too. Quote

The last two weeks in Texas have been brutal. Before that we had a mild Spring. Either way last week wouldn't have worked for me, The Mooney Homecoming in Kerrville used to be early fall late Sept / early October - a lot more pleasant weather. It would be nice if MooneyMax and Mooney Summit joined forces. 1 Quote

Good thing we didn’t have the event later in the summer when it gets REALLY hot. The only regret I have regarding MooneyMAX was that due to my personal schedule and living nearby, I missed many of the social activities, mostly the evening meals where I could have had more chances to meet and visit with other participants. RoundTwo Posted June 27, 2023 Report Posted June 27, 2023 I can’t believe I didn’t post this from our shuttle ride from the hotel to the airport. It’s easy to see who’s navigating for Paul Maxwell and keeping the passengers in line. 6 Quote
Pinecone Posted June 29, 2023 Report Posted June 29, 2023 A GREAT event. Excellent presentations and even better meeting MS people and putting faces to names. It was good having the vendors there, I had some great talks with several. Although Garmin did a real hit and run. I have two suggestions for this and any other event. 1) Allow for MS (or other forum) name to be on the name tag. 2) Put the first name and forum name in LARGE, BOLD letters. My eyes are not getting any better as time goes on. After the event, I flew to Mineral Wells to visit some friends. A meer 109F there. It was very nice that they have a pool. Quote
