GeneralT001 Posted April 2, 2022 Report Posted April 2, 2022 Is Clearview the way to go for cleaning the plexiglass windshield? Quote
N9405V Posted April 2, 2022 Report Posted April 2, 2022 Lemon pledge, Plexus, sprayaway, water, wash wax all, and others all work. Make sure whatever you use does not have ammonia.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
carusoam Posted April 2, 2022 Report Posted April 2, 2022 Soft clean towels too… beware of cheap paper towels… wood fiber is hard enough to leave fine scratches… Use lots of water first to wash away any dirt that may have settled…  PP thoughts only… not an acrylic guy…. -a- 2 Quote
Rick Junkin Posted April 2, 2022 Report Posted April 2, 2022 Are you set on the Clear View products? I've always used Plexus with outstanding results. https://smile.amazon.com/Plexus-Plastic-Cleaner-Protectant-13-Ounce/dp/B00092CKN4/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2I7HBPR7N5LNV&keywords=plexus+plastic+cleaner&qid=1648938106&sprefix=plexus%2Caps%2C158&sr=8-2 Cheers, Rick 8 Quote
GeneralT001 Posted April 2, 2022 Author Report Posted April 2, 2022 Alright...seems straight forward enough Quote
carusoam Posted April 2, 2022 Report Posted April 2, 2022 Don’t fear using too much liquid…. until you know the windshield is dirt free…  -a- Quote

A64Pilot Posted April 2, 2022 Report Posted April 2, 2022 (edited) I was taught a long time ago best way to clean windshield is running water and your hand, a little soap doesn’t hurt. Polishing is done after cleaning. Idea is running water removes dirt and dirt doesn’t embed in your hand like it will in a rag, dirt will of course scratch the windshield, that’s why you want it gone. If running water is tough due to location a yard pump up sprayer works well Lemon pledge will fill in small scratches, sounds like BS, but it works Edited April 2, 2022 by A64Pilot Quote
RLCarter Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 +1 for Plexus, I use to use it on almost everything, great stuff but tripled in price overnight 12 or so years ago Quote
GeeBee Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 Plexus is excellent. Lesser known but another good one is "Klear To Sea" which is Boeing and Airbus approved, it also has some repellents in it. I always use the Costco yellow micro fiber towels and I never reuse them. Minimizes chance of scratching. Â Â 1 Quote
apriav Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 Mild soapy water and microfiber towel. works well on bugs and grime also Quote

KB4 Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 Not so much what you use as much as HOW you use it.  No Karate Kid wax on wax off circular movements.  Fold the yellow, Swipe down flip yellow towel to clean side swipe down…  2 Quote
Ragsf15e Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 Plexus is awesome, but novus #1 is also solid and less expensive (buy a gallon on Amazon). Â Need your own spray bottle though. https://www.amazon.com/Novus-Plastic-Polish-64-Oz/dp/B000RT30LK/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?crid=1Y4YED7I25NMD&keywords=novus+1&qid=1648997428&sprefix=novus+%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-7 Quote
MikeOH Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 I've been happy with the pink Wash-Wax-All, but I think @KB4Â is correct: avoiding scratches is more about technique. Quote

cujet Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 The blue can of Clear View is probably the finest widow product available. Note: I'm DOM for a very high end Corporate Flight Department and Clear View "Plastic Cleaner Protectant and Polish" is our go-to product. Used correctly, it's extremely difficult to beat. It does contain a small quantity of Carnauba Wax and will fill micro-imperfections. Leading to a very clear window that repels rain.  Another product that works incredibly well on plastic windows, and is amazingly fast and easy is Griots Garage 3 in 1 Ceramic Wax. In fact, it's probably the best "do everything" product I've ever used. The trick is to use 2 microfibers, spray and spread with one microfiber, immediately buff with the other.    Quote

Crazing the windscreen is something against which I will pay extra to be safe.  I have also used these for general cleanup - they are a different material from the window version  1 Quote

A couple of the standards mention riveted surfaces and general engine cleaning. I’d probably call the manufacturer or dig deeper in the standards to see if it can be used on plexiglass. I use 100% cotton terry cloth washrags, couple bucks a dozen, with Aero Cosmetics Wash 'n' Wax. If it's really grungy, use the Red, otherwise Blue is fine. Quote

I use it for oil, belly soot, TKS runs, etc. Never fails.   Then follow it with Wash n' Wax Blue.  Bingo. \ 1 Quote
