Guitarmaster Posted October 4, 2016 Report Posted October 4, 2016 Besides a 3/8, 1/2, 7/16 and a screwdriver, what do you guys pack in a go-kit? Quote

You got a camera on me? I just came back from the airport. I carry a fishing tackle box with all kinds of goodies. If you recall recently, I had problems with my spark plugs. Had two brand new ones, including gaskets in the box. Also have; Permatex anti-seize, spare fuel nozzle, adell clamps, tie wraps, wrenches for spark plugs/harnesses, air pressure gauge, brake pad with rivets (guess what, I'm using them this week!), spare bulbs, electrical tape, multi-tip screwdriver, cotter pins, safety wire and safety wire tool. I know there are other things in there as well. Basically anything that can help me get out of Dodge if something breaks. May not be able to do the work myself, but have stuff that will help not be stuck because I needed it. 1 Quote
bradp Posted October 4, 2016 Report Posted October 4, 2016 3 passports and a good bottle of scotch? Does that count? Ratchet, spark plug, plug anti seize, spark plug washer, landing light, extra nav bulb, backpack with first aid kit and basic survival gear. Zip ties. Duct tape. 3 Quote
Hank Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Gotta have safety wire & pliers, and sandpaper to scuff dirty connections. Lotsa hand tools, rags, and don't forget the Leatherman! 2 Quote

rbridges Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I just bought a spark plug socket and extension to add to the kit. Quote

201er Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Besides the typical thing mentioned, I learned the hard way two important things to have. A set of jack points and a spare fuel sump valve. If the existing sump starts a leak, the only way to stop it may be to replace it entirely. Quote

MB65E Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Older ANR Dave Clarks guessing. Small parts cups. Large Ziploc bags. Handful of hardware. #10 tap. Spare nose tube. I'm always short nice rags. Knipix pliers. Spare cotterpins. Up front in the ash tray I keep a super tiny multi screwdriver for all of my tinkering during flight. At least 2 credit cards. $150 cash. All of the tooling can be lightend up by having smaller ratchets. Mini sockets, light weight wrenches, ditch the carring cases, small canvas/nylon zipper bags work well to contain everything. I don't like being stuck. -Matt 3 Quote
Jerry 5TJ Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I think "roughing it" is traveling with just a single credit card. 5 Quote

Guitarmaster Posted October 5, 2016 Author Report Posted October 5, 2016 Everything previously mentioned plus this:https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/rescuetape.php I bought some of this at Oshkosh. Cool stuff and I have used it (not on the airplane) already. It is also available at the local hot-rod shop for less... Of course, it's not FAA approved. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote

I saw nothing on the field except crop-dusters. The FBO guy said they didn't take credit cards, but said it would be fine if I sent him a check. Quote
