mooniac58 Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Hello all! We have successfully installed the new 4.0 version of the forum software. Some things are still working in the background to complete the migration and this might even take a couple days. Some notes: 1) We seem to have lost the home page layout. I will look into getting this restored but it might cost some $$$ to get a developer in to do it. 2) Usernames seem to now be case sensitive. I always logged in as Mooniac58 and could not login until I realized my official username was "mooniac58" in all lowercase. If you can't login - this is likely a problem. 3) I am still working on upgrading Tapatalk to work with 4.0 so this could be a day or two as well. If you see anything else please let me know. Thanks! Marauder Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) so far so good It may take some time to get used to! i can sense some differences already best regards, -a- One thing appears to be the same. And that is your usage of double space lines... Or are you up to triple space now? Edited September 4, 2015 by Marauder 2
mooniac58 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Report Posted September 5, 2015 Thanks all. I know change can be hard but this should be a much better version for mobile and new features.
Marauder Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 I actually like it. Hopefully the Tapatalk function will come soon. 1
DrBill Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 looks really nice, and seems to work well under Firefox Bill
Raptor05121 Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Yeah this threw me for a curveball. I tried to log into Tapatalk an hour ago to show a friend that new cowling mod that is being developed and it gave us an error so I was wondering what was up.I do like the round avatars, however
Conrad Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 I am one of those [web] developers of whom you speak. I could be convinced to fix the homepage for not $ since I already live here. 7
bradp Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Mobile interface is really clean and apparently easy to use if this post goes through. -B
rbridges Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 I definitely see improvements on the phone.
tony Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) It works much better on my iPad but it's almost unusable in my laptop using internet explorer. No problems using chrome on my laptop. Im using version 11 IE and windows 7 update- I had set mooneyspace to be viewed in the compatibility mode for IE. Removed that setting and now all is well. bonal Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Not sure I like the new version but then I hate change. It will take some getting used to as all change does.
xcrmckenna Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 One thing I've noticed, when I open up a thread I have already read it starts me back at the opening comment. I have to scroll back through everything I've already read. It was handy when it started me off where I left off on the older version. Maybe I need to change a setting?
bonal Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Can't seem to locate friends in my profile
philipneeper Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 kinda miss the pics on the homepage and the trending topics... but like anything... We have to play with it to know it.
TTaylor Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 It works much better on my iPad but it's almost unusable in my laptop using internet explorer. No problems using chrome on my laptop. Im using version 11 IE and windows 7 update- I had set mooneyspace to be viewed in the compatibility mode for IE. Removed that setting and now all is well Tony, thanks. My IE was also in compatibility mode and the forum was almost unusable. Switched off and it looks much better.
Mooneymite Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 On my Android phone running Chrome, there is no "New Content" cue anywhere that I can find. Any suggestions? 1
mooniac58 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Report Posted September 5, 2015 Ok, Tapatalk support should now be live. Mooneymite - the only thing I can see on my android phone in the chrome browser is if you click the "3 bar" icon in the top right then "More" and then activity stream you will get all the latest content.
mooniac58 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Report Posted September 5, 2015 Well, it looks like the Tapatalk integration is not perfect yet. You can see trending topics and the timeline but for whatever reason you can no longer see the list of subforums for the site. I have a support ticket in with Tapatalk to try and get this fixed. Thanks for your patience!
Andy95W Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Anybody else getting an error when they try to "like this"?
Hank Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Here on my iPad (not upgraded to iOS 8 yet), never use Tapatalk. The forum has obviously changed. Whether I use Quick Reply below or Reply to This Post above, I then have to tap inside the text box for the cursor and keyboard to appear. Did not have to do this before. I will check on my Droid phone and Winders 8 desktop later today, maybe at halftime. Thanks for for all you do for us, Craig!
DAVIDWH Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Case sensitive log ins send me up a wall. Are they really necessary??
Hank Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Now on tge droid. No link to the homepage. Can't leave this forum. I really liked going to the homepage from the top or bottom; on POA, must scroll to the top even when 20 or more posts down. Soooo much nicer to scroll down just a little and have links to return to either the Forum or homepage. Now to see if I can rreach the Vintage thread. really hard to return to typing on the phone after reading what I wrote with the keyboard out of the way. It returns to the top of the page, the logo. Typing then brings me back to the end. So I can't fix "rreally" above.
mooniac58 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Report Posted September 5, 2015 Case sensitive log ins send me up a wall. Are they really necessary?? Nothing I can do on my end to control this. Sorry
