We had rain and clouds all day today so I thought I would give this a try. I had been thinking about doing it for a while. I know it's been discussed before, some like the square traditional look and some like the rounded look windows. I did a mild round in the corners. I think it makes it look a little more current. I owned a sign and graphics shop as a side business and used some leftover vinyl that matched the paint. A couple hours worth of work. I was a little rusty with the vinyl work, but overall fairly pleased.

Hey, what kind of airplane is that it kind of looks like a Mooney but I'm not sure. Of course I'd like to see some more pics. That looks real nice

Jim,

Airplane Covers.com is where I got the cover. I've had it about a year. I keep the plane in a hanger, but the cover is "water resistant". Yes I do like it..the folks were very easy to work with and came as advertised.

See my sign in photo and gallery.  Same idea except I extend rear window with gloss black vinyl simulating longer window with rounded rear corners.  Overlay actually overlaps baggage door.  I think it gives our short bodies a longer look.  I saw an Ovation with original long windows that had only esthestic purpose in the rear.  Decided I could do the same to my E much cheaper.

The real old models like mine had rounded windows and they made them square to look more modern. Then they rounded them off to look more modern. Mine was painted to make the window look longer

If you keep this nonsense up, this is what the view from the cockpit will eventually look like!

Is that what you really want?!!!

Cool!

I tried making my visual extension with my dark blue trim color.  Did not look right.  Made it again with gloss black and liked that better.  I used PC Paint to try several lengths on a photo of aircraft.

My wife got one of those vinyl printers...  I think the first thing I am going to make is Red "Danger Jet Blast" for the stall vane and yellow and black "Rescue" arrows for the Starboard side

Acclaim....?

Aspire is the new composite/turbine powered Mooney M24.

Rumor has it, it will have rectangular windows with sharp corners.

(No, I am making this up as I go along...)

I am not quite clear on what you did, the picture isn't very clear. Of course, you don't want the vinyl showing up too much.

Did you put a square piece of vinyl over the window and then cut out a rounded rectangle?

I "sort of" like the look, but what I would have done is the "starship window" where the rounded corners are only at the front edge of the front window and the back edge of the back window. Then you paint the space between the windows a dark color to make it look like one huge window. See photo.

Is the vinyl like a trim stripe on a car? What if it peels off in flight?

Take a look in my gallery. I gave a brief explanation of how I did it. I only used small pieces in the corners. I did not want it looking like a huge vinyl wrap over the window and did not want to cut down on visibility. The vinyl is a high performance vinyl. We typically would use this on any heavy duty application when I had my sign shop. This vinyl will withstand high speeds, weather etc..it can also be removed or replaced easily. It's a great day to fly in TN today so I'll try to take a few more detailed pics. It not for everyone's taste, but I like the updated look.

Looks great and you have to look close and know what you are looking for to see the fillets.

I also like that you kept the Buck Rodgers swept antennae!

See what you think of Starship Mode windows:

That looks more like the view from the cabin of a Gulfstream.
