  1. Actually it's 500' below, 1000' above and 2000' horizontal below 10,000'
  2. The short answer is yes. I have the Monroe speed breaks on my 1981 231. It uses an electric powered hydraulic pump to operate the spoilers. Works flawlessly and a lot less maintenance than the vacuum speed brakes.
  3. Really nasty weather here between Vegas and KWVI. Not going to make it this time.
  4. The A model had a wood wing. The B model was the first to have the metal wing.
  5. I had the same problem when doing a LPV approach. I found you have to go from HDG to approach before you get to FAF in order for the autopilot to capture the glide slope.
  6. My wingtip strobe power supply went out in my 81 231. I found I could replace both wingtip strobes and nav lights with the Whelen Orion 650E LED wingtip position/anti-collision lights for just a little more money than what just one power supply costs.
  7. I vote for Apple Valley (KAPV) or Big Bear (L35) or Flabob (KRIR) or Cable (KCCB) or Chino (KCNO). Chino has a couple of airplane museums, Planes of Fame and Yanks, plus a nice restaurant.
  8. I don't think the G5 works with legacy autopilots. The GI275 will work with legacy autopilots.
  9. Simple answer is no. The 48108 filter has a 3/4" thread and the 48103 has a 13/16" thread.
  10. I ordered tempest AA48108 on Aug 15 from SkyGeek and it was shipped on the 17th.
  11. I'm interested in it. My zip code is 89019. Let me know the total with shipping.
  12. I have used WingX, Garmin Pilot and ForeFlight. When my ForeFlight subscription expires I think I will go back to WingX.
  13. I believe you can get vnav and gpss steering without a Garmin autopilot if you have a gtn and a gi275.
  14. I have a 231 with the turbo plus intercooler and the merlyn wastegate. I use the 252 manifold and rpm limits. I run 36 inches and 2700 rpm for take off and climb, full rich. For max cruise I run 28 inches and 2500 rpm. The max TIT is 1650 but I don't like to run it that high. I lean for about 1550 to 1575 which is about 12.5 gal per hr. At 2500 rpm and 25 inches I can lean to peak TIT and be under 1550 TIT and burning about 10.5 gal per hr. I have the TSIO 360 GB engine which tends to run a little hotter than the LB engine. At high power settings without a TIT gauge you run the risk of overheating the turbo even when the cylinder head temp is under 400 degrees.
  15. I have used wingx and garmin pilot. I think wingx is better. Much easier to use.
  16. Sounds good to me. I will try to make it.
  17. I was really impressed with the sport airplanes. Not so much for the unlimited.
