I seem to remember seeing something about this, but can't remember, and can't find it now. Is there some way to verify that an installed ADS-B Out is functioning. Can ATC "see" it.

I asked ATC if they could see anything different with my new transponder.  Obviously there is a screen they can check for the ADS-B.  He said he could see my broadcast.

You can send an email to this FAA address and have them verify that your system is working. Here's the cover page of their report on my system. (My GLD 88 was among the first and my A. shop will re-program it to show flight ident which they did not realize was needed.)

Requested report attached.  System performance checks good, but flight identification is not being transmitted.

I believe you can program the identification yourself. You don't need to go into the maintenance menus.

Don, send an email to: 9-AWA-AFS-300-ADSB-AvionicsCheck@faa.gov and include your N-Number.

FAA will send results of your install.

You can also look on flight aware after the flight and it will show whether your ADS-B was working properly.

FlightAware can tell you if your ADS-B is broadcasting "something", but it won't tell you if you're ADS-B "compliant".

The e-mail link referenced is the way to go.

I went through this last year making 3 trips to the Avionics shop (who seemed to be learning as they went) before I passed the compliance tests.

I read somewhere that a large percentage of installations are NOT complying yet even though they have the equipment installed.

My installing shop was a prominent Garmin approved facility but still they didn't know all the necessary steps in mid-2014.

I just did this this morning thanks to your post.

You should now see a clean report from the FAA avionics check. I had the same issue - everything checked out fine except for the flight ID on my first report.
