I'm in the process of updating my 1963 M20C and just found a crack in the spinner. I stop drill it, so it's ok for now. I would like to replace it with a spinner that is not so blunt. One with a little more of a point. Can anyone tell me if there is one available? Do I need a 337?

Good luck. The 201 spinner is available but looks silly (on a C) and costs a Ton. In the Type certificate, there are several spinners listed, you could run anyone of them with just a logbook entry. Check W&B too. I ran into an issue with mine cracking too. I found a deal on eBay, but ran into a front bulkhead issue with fit. Hartzell "says" they never manufactured the front bulkhead spinner, however I think Globe made them for hartzell under license. The front bulkhead I felt was necessary due to the moment of the larger spinner. The offset of the front bulkhead is diffrent on the straight -1 hartzell hub vs the -1BF hub we have on the Moonies. Piper made a fiberglass spinner for the Arrow, that would be great if somebody could manufacture one...

The store bought solution is a 2.5k hartzell 201 spinner... Ugg!!

Embrace the blunt! Love your girl, funny nose and all!

I see that you do not have a cowel closure but still have the open front. I have the Lasar cowel closure that closes the bottom of the maw but still uses the original spinner.

However, there is another cowel closure STV'd mod that changes the opening to two more or less rectangular forms (Ari?????). As I recall that mod does include a different and more pointed spinner.

Perhaps someone on Mooneyspace has that mod and can refer you to a gallery with photos.

I believe that ARI mod requires the J spinner; if you've got a Hartzell prop, you're looking at $2500+ for that spinner assembly as used ones are generally unavailable.

Does it make a difference if I have a McCauley Propeller?

I don't realy want to spend 2K for a new spinner. My main gole is to find a spinner without any cracks. It would be great if I could

find one to fit that had a little more of a point. None the less, I'm looking to replace the one I have.

I am not fully qualified to make this statement, but I would assume that a McCauley propellor would be very easy to find a "J" spinner assembly for. The reason for the lack of availability for the Hartzell propellor is that very few J models came with Hartzell props (IIRC, only a few early ones with Q-tip props had them).

What's a 201 spinner? My M20B is different then most B and C's I have seen. Long and pointed. Thanks Troy

You have been a busy boy! Lots of work on your Mooney. Loved the biscuit pictures. Unbelievable they were factory originals!

Thank you for the help guy's, but I'm still in need of a spinner. I need a spinner made for a McCauley two blade prop.

I need one in good condition without cracks. My parts manual shows part # 835-20

Thank you

I would say to give Dan a call at Lake Aero Styling 707 263 0412 they are likely closed for the holiday but I think they have a couple used ones that fit your set up
