KSMooniac Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 This is quite interesting... and a novel idea that has a lot of merit IMO: http://www.aso.com/listings/spec/ViewAd.aspx?id=148091&listingType=true&IsInternal=True&pagingNo=1&searchId=7109964&dealerid= I would love to see this thing in person. 2 Quote
BigTex Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 Well... First off good luck getting anything close to the asking price. There's nothing here that would justify that price. The other thing I found interesting is that the ad said that its classified as Experimental Light Sport... I think not. Quote
Comatose Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 I wish my M20C had a clime rate like that. Experimental, one off, old avionics, can't spell, specs are clearly pulled from thin air. They'll be extremely lucky to get 30k for it. 130 is a joke. Quote
KSMooniac Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 I agree about the price and wonder if it is a case of a spouse telling the other to sell it. How many times have people complained about the small Mooney cabin...that is one approach to solving the problem and retaining some of the best parts of a Mooney. Quote
1964-M20E Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Maybe he was able to get the FAA to buy off on it and reclassify it as an experimental. Definitely no STC to change the tail cone. It would be way too much work but I wonder if you could get the FAA to buy of on something like that as being experimental and then you could change the tail back to the original Mooney tail and keep the experimental classification. Then you would have a legal experimental Mooney I'd be happy if the FAA would let me classify my current F as an experimental but we discussed that already. Quote
ChrisH Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Makes you wonder though what you could do with a modern Mooney wing, and pressurized composite fuselage and acclaim engine. Quote
NotarPilot Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 After reading all the grammatical errors, the capitalization on words where they didn't belong, and the ridiculous claims I was certain I was going to find a Nigerian country code on the telephone number. Quote
WardHolbrook Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 I'd love to see what that Frankenplane looks like. Quote
Shadrach Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 RVooney... I spotted it at KCBE a few years back. Of all the Mooney airframe parts to choose for "grafting", the guppy mouth would be my last choice... Quote
Ron McBride Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Shadrach What happened to your RV pictures? Ron Quote
Rwsavory Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Here is a picture of another FrankenMooney that I collected somewhere along the way. Comanche tail, tip tanks, and some non-standard cowl/engine arrangement, I think? Jim It's Alive!! 1 Quote
John Pleisse Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Of note is the near 300lbs GW increase. Hmmmmmm. I wonder about that. 1 Quote
