Hi MooneySpace community. I have been reading posts for years and finally decided to create an account. Beyond just wanting to be a part of the fun, I recently upgraded the panel in my ‘89 J, and I asked that all the old equipment be returned to me. I sold the big-ticket items that were removed on eBay (SL30, XPNDR, G5), but have most of the old panel and some other items (e.g., all the old fuel senders and some other misc things). I thought there may be some folks here that could put these things to good use. I’d love if these items could be put to use in a panel/plane somewhere. Send a message if anyone would like more pics or info on anything.

I donated to be a supporting member of the site and will post these in the classified area as well. I don’t have any prices necessarily in mind. Just reach out with an offer if interested. Again, I’m mainly interested in moving these to a good home where they can be used to keep people and planes happily flying.

Thanks!
-Matt

I have a pretty similar new panel and a pretty similar box of old crap from my 89J, but you’re ahead of me on bothering to post it :)

One of these days I’ll get the camera out ..

I know there was somebody looking for an NSD-360A a while back, but it sounds like you might have replaced that previously with a G5 HSI?

Well, I was getting more frequent looks from the boss over this stuff decorating the house, so I figured it was time to take action before she did. :o

And yes, I did the upgrade in two parts. Got G5s and the GFC 500 initially. The shop gave me a little $$ for the old HSI, AI and MX20, so I let them have it. Kinda of wish I wouldn’t have now, but I did.

Very nice clean job, you’ll love it. Nice TAS at 23/24, must be rigged nicely

Thanks! IMO, they did an excellent job. I’ll give a shout out to Mark and the guys at 45 North Aviation in Traverse. Exceptional attention to detail. And service after the fact was truly amazing. Even sent a tech out to my hangar after the fact for a couple minor things that needed addressed. They did a great job and stood behind their work in a way that is kinda rare these days.

One of the things that has been pleasantly surprising has been the precision of the data the new equipment provides vs. the old analog stuff. I knew I was in this ball park (TAS), but it was difficult to understand exactly where things were panning out. As for rigging, I believe that plane is stock. I haven’t put any speed mods on, and I don’t think the previous owner did, either. But it’s really nice to understand precisely where you’re truing out.

Another area where the fine-grained data has been illuminating is in leaning and fuel flow. I generally tried to lean between best economy and best power, but it think the old EGT gauge was just not nearly as precise, leaving the engine generally richer than what it should have been. I’m getting that 153-155 true airspeed at 10k” on 8.5 gph. That’s almost 1 gph less than I would have been configured for post upgrade. Really fascinating to me.
