Steve Dawson Posted November 17, 2021 Report Posted November 17, 2021 I'm just installing a JPI 900 in my Bravo and wanted to clean up under the cowl to make things look neat and organized. Does anyone have pictures of their engine compartment they're proud to show? Quote

Did you notice much difference in cooling? I but Guy's baffle kit on my J and worked as advertised and cleaned up the looks too. Quote

I have been keeping my hottest (#1) below 380 but I guess that was for Conti. Managing #1 mostly with cowl flaps. I don’t think #1 being warmer than the rest is baffling but the other cylinders are pretty cool ~20 deg lower. I haven’t flown in a week. I need some Miss Daisy time. Quote

Guest Posted November 17, 2021 Report Posted November 17, 2021 I’ve fashioned a few variations of this for mounting pressure transducers. Clarence Quote

It’s always a balancing act between a clean and tidy installation and a reasonable budget. My brother used to say “do you want it thrown in or installed?” Clarence Quote

That's a good solution. Long ago in its earlier life my airplane was a rental and they made a bracket right there to hold the Hobbs meter, where you can see it through the oil hatch. I ditched the meter and use what's left of the bracket to hold the duct, but I think the adel clamps is a better idea and would let me finally ditch the rest of the bracket. Quote

PT20J Posted November 18, 2021 Report Posted November 18, 2021 When I had Guy @@GEE-BEE AEROPRODUCTS make me SCEET ducts, I found an added advantage was that the added rigidity required less support. 1 Quote

The outfit that installed my engine monitor made a similer thing, but much larger, and was attaching it to the engine mount above the oil filter such that I wouldn't be able to change the oil filter without removing the whole assembly every time. I nixed that idea when they were already about half done with it, and instead they mounted the transducers independently on the firewall. It's reasonably clean the way they wound up doing it, but this looks interesting. Quote
