1) Great idea…

2) Smart to ask all the questions…

3) Find the fly-in rule book for KOSH… printed every year complete with updates…

4) Expect that fires and large campsites spread over acres of dry grass don’t mix very well…

5) Bug repellent is important…

6) A Target is a few miles walk away… they have one of everything you left behind…

Best regards,

A 4-person tent is the right size for 2 people or even one.  The tent stakes that come with your tent and hold your tent to the ground can be a bit too small for some brands of tent manufacturers.  Do yourself a favor and buy the oversized stakes  in Amazon.  They held my tent down in a storm at OSH in the middle of the night while many tents around me did not survive.  Bring a blanket.  It’s July but it can get cool/cold at 3am (at least check the forecast lows and decide if you need one). Twice I’ve decided I did not need one and froze my ass and bought one there.  Bring a cooler but buy the drinks at OSH.  There is daily ice delivery to your tent available.  A couple of 24 watt folding solar panels with USB ports charged a 30,000 mAh  portable battery during the day which I then used at night to charge my phone and other electronics.  A decent Inflatable bed works great for me, don’t forget to bring something to inflate it with. Small LED lantern for night time.  Flip flops and towel and toiletries so you can shower.

Assume you need to bring everything you need to subsist and want for personal comfort except ice, water, and basic bathroom/shower facilities. The food vendors are fine for when you're out and about, but it's not exactly high cuisine, and they can be a mile or more away depending on where you end up parked.  And if you fly in, it's not at all easy or convenient to get off the field to get provisions. I'm a minimalist but my friends like the comforts of a palatial camp site so we bring a lot of crap in a separate gear-hauling Seneca . It is a totally awesome experience though. See you there!!

Bring your tie downs. Read the notam.
A small 3-1 power adapter/extension cord. They have Honda generators available for charging accessories and phones but usually it looks like a Christmas tree with others chargers. Canopy cover. Check tire pressures prior to departure. Sunscreen and good walking shoes. AND Have Fun!

This will be my 39 year! :-)

Yes.  Just be mindful that the airport is closed during the airshow which is from 2:30 to 6:30 pm daily.  It then closes each night at 8pm until 7 am.  Just plan accordingly.

Can i take and use a small inverter Generator?  is it worth it ?

also, was thinking of taking my bike  but seeing as it can only be used around the north/south 40 is it worth it ?

Gens can be used and probably worth it if you have the weight available.  There are charging stations, however the daisy chained power cords is a little concerning,  and you have to trust everyone there or come up with a locking cage to charge your phone in. Bring a small fuel can, there is a gas station just out the gate of the N40.  That would be a good time to use a bike.  Otherwise, I have not found a need for a bike.

Thursday morning early is normally a good time to arrive with a good chunk of people leaving Wednesday night.

I use a mid sized battery (odyssey 925) in a small soft cooler w/ charger. I just leave it charging at the bathhouse during the day and carry it back to the tent at night.  Provides plenty of power throughout the night. Hasn’t disappeared yet, after almost a decade of using it.

I'm hoping to get there over the weekend and leave Tue after the shows or Wed before the shows.

I read that campfires are prohibited, and if they weren't, I would avoid the area like the pest. Because, you know, leaky tanks and avgas fumes, and 10,000 aircraft carrying ~25gl at least could easily crater the entire area and evaporate the adjacent lake.

In the same style as Anthony signs his posts:

Thoughts of someone who wants to survive, not a fire marshal.

Wrong term. It's called fire marshal.
