That smooth belly looks like a good deal..

What are some considerations if I were to buy that?  Could I do the install myself and have an A&P/AI sign it off, or would that require a MSC cert?  what about paperwork?  Anyone know?  It looks like it's in decent condition, but you can never really tell when viewing a couple pictures on the internet...

We did the same thing on our J model. MSC cert not required. The part number is assigned to the type certificate, should require no more than an IA sign off.

There are lots of other parts needed to do the smooth belly conversion.  This job is not trivial, and the cost of the remaining parts could easily eat up another $500-$1000.  This is to say nothing about piecing together the plans on what to change and how.  There is work to be done all the way around the opening, and some of the original intercostal are removed.  A person who is trying to do this should understand what they are in for.  A much more reliable approach is to purchase LASAR's or one of the other STC'd products, not so much for the STC, but for the other parts and instructions.

thanks guys- that's kind of what I figured, since it looks like LASAR charges over 6 AMU's for the labor alone on installing the smooth belly mod....
