Mike A Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 Anyone know the size of the small set screw for the overhead vent knob on a 1980 231? Last shop that removed the overhead panel lost it. Luckily it was set in the “on” position. Thanks Quote
Hank Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 If you actually have the knob itself, just visit a haedware store and test different machine screws to find one that fits. Then look fir a set screw the same size. I'd guess #4-40 or #6-32, but it's only a guess. You'll also want a little teeny Allen wrench to fit jt. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 (edited) That would be an 8-32 dog nose set screw with hex drive 5/16 long Edited April 20, 2019 by N201MKTurbo 1 Quote
m20kmooney Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 Since the knob is off It may not be a bad idea to take apart the rest of ths mechanism a little and spray some triflow in it. That mechanism probably never gets any lubrication and it’s not easy to find parts. I did that when I took the interior out and very happy I did. 2 Quote
