carusoam Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Interesting... Staying with the Lycoming... 300hp in a short Body with a short rudder? 0 to T/O times must be short. Best regards, -a- Quote
Raptor05121 Posted November 26, 2017 Author Report Posted November 26, 2017 Interesting center console, as well Quote
MIm20c Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 I really like the paint and the way it flows with that style of windows. It would look great on my Mooney with the @Sabremech cowling. Quote
DXB Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Could be the fastest NA Mooney in existence. No J bar though - I’ll pass 3 1 Quote

The last photo looks to have an electric gear selector way down at the bottom of the panel, and a J bar to the right of the mixture, hidden by the writing. It's advertised as a 2005 "year of fabrication" based on the mods, but doesn't mention what year the airframe is . . . Afraid to scare off buyers? Quote
Raptor05121 Posted November 26, 2017 Author Report Posted November 26, 2017 I think thats the hydraulic flaps on the right side. 1 Quote

MIm20c Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 How hard is it in the US to turn an old certified aircraft to an experimental with no limitations? Don’t see many certified Planes go that route even though many old airframes are pennies on the dollar. Quote

Here, I think it can only be done as "Experimental / Exhibition" which precludes personal use, travel, etc., or temporarily to collect data for STCs, etc. Quote
MB65E Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Experimental exhibition airplanes (EE) airplanes are not a big deal. Program letter and a genorious FSDO they aren't a problem. But having one as a personal airplane for daily use might be more of a challenge. Bringing somthing back to certified takes a DAR with function codes On par with God himself. I took a 1year old helicopter in the EE category back to certified. Took 5 days. There were 2 people west of the Mississippi that could do it. Geographical extensions are required. looks like a really neat airplane. With the Lower VNE it be hard to use all that 300hp. Still sweet!!! I hope they re-engineered the engine mount. The stock mount attaches with really tiny hardware. -Matt Quote

carusoam Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 1) Gonna need a new VSI... Expect above 2k’pm in cold OATs... 2) Gonna Want That automated mixture control as that 5 minute time to climb is going to keep you busy... Best regards, -a- Quote
gsengle Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 How’d they balance that engine w&b wise!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Guaranteed the battery was moved from the firewall to as far aft as possible. Looks like the back seat was slid aft, too, as my front seats touch it when slid back to enter / exit the plane. Does make you wonder what else was done. Quote
MIm20c Posted November 27, 2017 Report Posted November 27, 2017 I would think at least two batteries or weights (both?) were used. With my turbo system and two external oil filters my battery needed to be moved to the back. Quote

Already the rocket/missile conversion required putting TWO large 35mAMP batteries in a tray in the way way back of the tail. The M20C is shorter. Seems like they would need a rod sticking outside the airplane another 2 ft with a bag of lead shot! There must be a bag of lead in the way back of the tail. Quote
