Comparing to the automotive variety...

About 3X the surface area to be prepped and painted.  It needs the expertise and knowledge of a Mooney knowledgeable organization.

Plus the weighing and balancing of control surfaces.

Then decide if this is your favorite forever plane.  That costs extra...

Best regards,

I'm always amazed how long it takes to wash and wax the bird.  I definitely understand why the good shops charge what they do.

For small N numbers, the plane only has to be 30 years old, and must have at least temporary 12" numbers for international flights. Duct tape works well, and it's easy to carry spares!

FAR 45.29b (1)(i): An aircraft displaying marks at least 2 inches high before November 1, 1981........may display those marks until the aircraft is repainted or the marks are repainted, restored, or changed; (in which case, FAR 45.29 (1) takes precedence).

I read that as implying they will allow older aircraft with small form numbers until its repainted, and then 12" is required. Unless I'm reading that wrong.

This quote was just a small excerpt from the FAR. If you continue reading through it goes into more detail with exceptions to the FAR. It was painted at Mena Aircraft Painting..That's all they do is paint airplanes day in and day out. When I first posted the new paint job yrs ago the same question was asked on the forum and there were several follow-up posts with all the FAR and the exceptions. These numbers are 3". If I remember correctly there is some stipulations with respect to flying to Mexico and out of the country. Just checking in with MS and finishing my morning cup of java and I don't have time to search the topics, but it meets the requirements. There are several planes at my field that have gone with the smaller lettering.

The perspicacious manner in which you conduct yourself is quit refreshing.

Thank you.

Gotcha, I misunderstood then, thanks!

How were you able to transfer the reg number to another plane? What happened to the Mooney?

When I sold the Mooney I retained the marks as they are my wife's initials.  The Mooney is now C-GCPF, initials of the new owners wife.

So is that some unwritten rule in Canada.  If you buy a new plane either you change the reg to your wife's initials or you change your wife to  match your reg??  Must be exhausting.

I guess they let you do that there. I hope everybody uses decals to put the letters on. Repainting would be a headache.

Here is my before and after.  Before when I was 36 with my 63C and after when I am 63 with my 84K.  What will be in store for me next?  By the way 6761u picture was taken at the furthest west airport in the continental US (033) Eureka Muni.

Pritch I'm guessing you'll be 84 with a 2018 m10t N48P
