Then I would look into Gnoss Field in Novato that is closest to Sausalito

I used to fly out of Gnoss when I lived in San Rafael. Nice quiet airport with good facilities and just enough runway length to make me feel comfortable.

Was flooding ever an issue? Maybe I'll reconsider. I definitely like the location!

Not that I can ever recall. It's right off of the 101, so it's convenient to get to.

Joe,

I don't know of any hangars being vacated soon but contact Bob Patterson http://airnav.com/airport/O69 to find out if anything is open at Petaluma. It's a much nicer airport than Gnoss with an LPV approach (you're gonna need it at night) and a decent restaurant. There's also a nice sense of community there.

Let me know what Bob says,

Dave,

I visited the airport in person today and met Bob Patterson. I added my name to the waiting list and paid the deposit. He allowed me to drive out on the ramp and check out all the hangars. It's exactly what I want. I hope we'll be neighbors soon.

I'm in 17-O (Oscar) east side end hangar facing the office.

I'll check with Bob to see if anything is opening up.

Give me a call when you're in town.

Why not check out San Rafael (CA35)? It's a private field with no instrument approaches, but it is the closest to Sausalito by far and it looks like they have a lot of hangars there.

I plan to check it out next time I visit. I understand they recently repaved the runway and built a bunch of new hangars. It was a bit of a dump when I was based in the Bay Area 10 years ago so I didn't consider it, but in light of the recent improvements I'll check it out.

CA35 still shows as private use not sure what would allow you the access perhaps you would need to be a member to something or other 2100 X 30 feet is pretty tight
