We can call her anything you like -- as long as you have a cold beer for her. :)

She will definitely fit in....Uh, does it have to be cold?

In our neighborhood of which you live in its devastating how many deer are hit around here, on Limestone rd near my corner there have been at least 8-10 so far this yr. The rest live in my backyard..I don't have a clue how we can clean up all of them since they have become such a danger and menace.. I was up by your place across from theHac and there were about 25 deer in the field across from hac and Walgreens ...

There was a deer running across the runway here at 10:30 today. There were 3 nearby during the fly in Saturday. We would need about 2.5 miles od 10' fence to close off the airport... $1,000,000? Not a bad idea to buzz the runway coming into a field like ours, particularly after dark.

Ahh yes winter, now you understand why that same house is 2 mil out here. yes location location location. Winter flying out west is the best time of year to fly cool calm and clear you can see for over 200 miles. Nice deer BTB I hate the damn things they eat my garden and since you cant hunt around our hood they are always a problem for driving and more important riding my rice rocket.

While people do not normally associate Mooneys with turf runways, this is not your average "off field" variety. 4500'X150'! My insurance broker does not charge extra for this location. There are presently several Mooneys located here. Two J's, four C's, and a couple of E's that I can think of.

I'm located over at Brook bridge (8GA9), my agent didn't charge extra for turf field either.

Well, not that I'm aware of anyway!

We should get together sometime!

You have a very nice community there.  I've flown in lots of times in various tail draggers.....nice flat, smooth runway!  I think we inherited one of your residents....Lyle, (or his wife) has a Mooney.  Come see us!  Your moniker....do you own a Culver (cadet?) another Al Mooney influenced plane?

Yes, a '41 Culver Cadet LFA.

Just looked at your neighbors ad, that looks like a great deal for a nice house and hangar!

Wow!  That's a great picture of your Culver Cadet....Who took it?

I can't tell you how many times I've been tempted to buy one, but I bought a Mite instead.  Mooney-style efficiency.

Yes, that's a very good price on a very nice property.  I suspect I'll have a new neighbor soon.  I hope he has aMooney!

I am not a big venison guy but do like deer meat jerky. My brother on the other hand feeds his entire family for the year on what we catch. BTW -- if you hadn't figured it out, that one is stuffed. :)

This is the one from last year. Will be back up there this weekend to complete the mission. Unfortunately 3 feet of snow and more to come is forcing me to drive :(

my son finally got his first buck this year.  first day of hunting season in NC.  It was a small one, but I could see he was glad to get it.

I just showed the listing to my wife (we've been looking at moving from my place to a new home since we were married in April) and she has not been a fan of the hanger as part of the house.  I showed her the slides of the pictures, and she was very into the place.  She loved the octagon ceilings, the layout, the kitchen, bath, dining room, you name it - she really liked it.  She loved the porch.  Then she said, "what's that?" when I showed the exterior of the hanger.  Then the open hanger slide and she laughed and said "Oh."

I then showed her the price $375k.  She then said "F-Me" (I of course stood up and said okay and then she laughed again to my chagrin.  Here in the DC area, we are amazed how much our townhouse is worth and we could sell our place, move to GA (I used to live in ATL and the price of housing here in in DC is absurd), buy this place, and still have money left over to get an additional Aerostar, vintage T-6 Texan, and keep my Mooney.

As noted, up here a house like that with a runway near DC, you're looking at over $1,000,000.  I love DC, but am amazed at the cost savings not living here.

Yeah....I grew up near Leesburg, soloed at the old Godfrey airport. Property values are crazy up there. We're happy to be where the pace is not so frenetic and my salary goes further.

Incidentally, the listed house is not directly on the runway. It is on a taxiway that goes by the horse farm ( http://highflightfarm.net). Short taxi to the runway.

I spent some time over the holidays in Rome GA some years back and it's really beautiful there could not believe how much house you could get just a bit outside Atlanta brand new 5 beds at least 2500 sq ft for under 150k

The FAA pressured us to put up a fence around our airport a couple of years ago which they provided money for.  Unfortunately they were more concerned with keeping people out than animals.  It covers the open area along the road and goes about 5ft into the woods and stops.

We were in KPNS a couple of years ago with is completely fenced and was surprised when a fox wandered out in front of us.  We called tower and they asked us to hold and keep an eye on it while they sent someone out to shoot it.

Seth, come on down and get out of that socialist state up there.  You and your wife will love Atlanta.

I lived in Hotlanta for 5 years.  I do love it there (visited last Thursday on business).

Gus, if I had a job that was closer, I'd happily be your neighbor. But the commute down here would take all the fun out of living there, cause I'd never be home. Somewhere nearby, to the south away from the Big City.

Hank, I'm surprised there isn't a fly-in community near Auburn. There are plenty around here.

Maybe you could develop one!

I've always lived in GA, but I've watched shows like House Hunters, and my jaw drops when they hit areas like metro Chicago or DC.  The dirt under my house would be worth millions in some of those areas.

Anyway, some of your savings are lost when you factor in the cost of mosquito and gnat spray necessary to live in GA.

Hmmm . . . Maybe I should look into crowd sourcing?
