Marauder Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I have seen some unusual TFRs before, but to block out the whole east side of a state? Until further notice! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
rbridges Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 at least it has good intentions instead of simply aggravating people over some useless POTUS trip. Quote
M016576 Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 At least it's a small state. Imagine if it was the whole west side of California..... 1 Quote
yvesg Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I don't see that one on Foreflight. Anyone else having this issue too? Yves Quote
philipneeper Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 What APP are you using if that isn't fore flight? Quote
triple8s Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I saw that yesterday evening, I guess we have a new staff who's job is deciding on when ,where, how long to issue tfr's and they were bored. Quote
wiguy Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Â They'll be covering the whole USA before long. Quote

NotarPilot Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I believe we should have a definitive end date for published TFRs. Such as it can't last longer than 30 days. I always check the CA TFRs on the FAA website and always see the Disney TFR that's dated 2009. Seems a bit ridiculous to me. 1 Quote
MooneyBob Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 This TFR is weird . I can't find it on the FAA site or anywhere else except Garmin Pilot. I better to call a briefer. Quote
Marauder Posted July 5, 2014 Author Report Posted July 5, 2014 What are those user waypoints? Just curious. The waypoints are just spots off the Nav aids in the area. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1 Quote

Marauder Posted July 5, 2014 Author Report Posted July 5, 2014 I just read the text blurb carefully. It does not indicate a plane is prohibited to enter the area, just to "watch out" for planes that are "participating" in the area. Definitely one of the crazier ones I have seen. Before I flew into the area, I would want to be sure there wasn't something hidden in the TFR. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Alan Fox Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Doh.... I went to 26N last night a 2100 hrs local........Had flight following too.... Quote
DS1980 Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I would think by definition, it being a TFR that civilian aircraft would not be allowed inside without prior permission. Are there different categories of TFRs? I must have missed that day at ground school. Quote
201er Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Its noton the faa database. Is it perhaps a notam? Or is it over? Quote

Marauder Posted July 5, 2014 Author Report Posted July 5, 2014 Glitch or not, it was designated as a TFR in the tool I was using. Garmin should give me a free year of subscription for the angst, right Peter? Besides, it it were a real TFR, we would be bailing Alan out this morning. Quote
PTK Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Chris, no glitch. It was designated as a TFR but it wasn't really. This was clarified and explained to me by Flight Service. Quote
yvesg Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Chris, no glitch. It was designated as a TFR but it wasn't really. This was clarified and explained to me by Flight Service. So is it a TFR or not? Quote
201er Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 I'm so confused..... You're going to spend the rest of your life in jail. But not for this Quote
Piloto Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 For TFRs I check the FAA website: tfr.faa.gov on my smart phone before going to the hangar. They show a map and a listing of the current TFRs, including the Virgin Islands, Alaska and Hawaii. The listing shows the active times for the TFR. Very handy to have on a smart phone.  Jose Quote
Marauder Posted July 6, 2014 Author Report Posted July 6, 2014 So is it a TFR or not? It is not a TFR. It is what they are calling an ACA or Airspace Coordination Area. They indicate in the text that TFRs may established in the ACA. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Alan Fox Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Is Hose' smiling in that pic , because he is in a Mooney ? or because of the hot ladyfriend in the cockpit , (possibly a stranger photobombing him ) ? or our interesting banter on Mooneyspace......... I believe Mike should do a poll...... 1 Quote
