-17F yesterday morning.  -12F this morning.  Even if it does warm up it will take some time to melt all that snow.  Deep packed snow out there, and lots of below zero temps for the 2 week forecast ahead.  At least it is white and bright this morning.  At least I am in better XC ski shape than in years, and still skiing...

Here is Cupid my dog, yesterday AM during her chilly -17F morning walk.  She likes the cold.  She likes to stick her face in the snow and in the frigid cold you see the shiny sharp snow crystals on her face.

That there is a face full of structural icing!

My dad grew up in Buffalo... he told me it's ALWAYS winter in upstate NY.  :D

The temporarily call winter off for 30 minutes at 9:30pm on the 4th of July.

Thanks Danb. No silly Maurauder. That's our Samoyed named Cupid. She is from show dog lines - her uncle won Westminster in the working dog category- meaning she looks good - walks with great carriage and very fancy show dog style but she has none of the actual sled dog pulling tendency that Samoyeds are supposed to - her breeding was just for show. Normally she is very smiley.

Yup - its STILL winter - 18'' blizzard dumping down on us right now!  Airport is Notam closed - and Cupid my dog is in the backyard sleeping happily and disappearing as the snow is piling up on her.

I can sympathize. The front is blowing through here now, wind is steady in the 20s and gusting into the 30s; temps will fall tonight to near freezing. This is bad, as the dogwoods are blooming! Yesterday was mid-70s, but winter is coming back. Tomorrow night will also be near freezing.

Did I mention how much nicer Alabama is to live in than WV and OH??  :P  I'm loving it, but my wife is getting snowed on as we speak, since she hasn't moved down yet.

We aren't having that problem - winter has not blinked yet.  We have had solid white covering now since early December and except for a few days last weeks with highs in the upper 30's, we have had highs well below freezing for many months.

..coming up on Maple syrup'ing season.

I have a commercial lesson on Friday that is looking to be in jeopardy.

Alabama sure is nice in January, but in July - eesh I just melt down South.

The weather has been bad in Huntington, WV for the same period. They've had snow every week, once or twice each, since I came down. Enough snow there that I've been unable to bring the plane down, and my wife is complaining about having to shovel it all, sometimes twice a day. Over the weekend, sunny and in the high 60s, my aunt said, "This is how March in Auburn is supposed to be." I've only had to scrape frost twice, but my neighbors all sat in their cars running defroster for it to melt. Some used their credit cards . . . For here, this IS winter. And I'm happy to be back!

I may have to look up Phillip this summer and get an aircraft cooler. But I'm keeping the cell-powered preheater, too.

Need to shovel snow around the airplane again... and guess what? Now I need to clear snow from two Mooneys... Ned is away and I will relocate his aircraft for him.

Looks like another severe clear day mid 70's here in Northern California its been a bad year for needed rain but it makes for lots of great flying.

No water rationing here.

Well - when in Rome - make like the Romans.  Normally I should be riding my bike in March preparing for biking season.  But there is still 4' of packed snow out there (and 6' piles of snow lining my driveway) and it snowed another 6'' last night - so I am going XC skiing!

Its severe clear and crisp - I am going this evening or AM to NYC (by Mooney) for business to return tomorrow eve.  I'll decide on that when I get back from skiing (15 min from home) and after 2pm TAF.

Well... I'm riding for the first time this season this afternoon. Been a long winter here too...
