I just wanted to point out that I love the Mooney community both on this site and in person. I think in other aviation subcircles (but more notably outside) people get too competitive, judgmental, and elitist. I think the Mooney airplane is much the reason the community is so terrific. We're all flying much the same airframe with some minor differences. The guy in the $25k C model is flying nearly the same airframe as the guy with the $600k acclaim.

Also we all already know that mooneys are super fast and efficient so there's no defensiveness or insecurity that leads to arguments. Just the right number of Mooneys out there to have a diversity of pilots while remaining tightly nit. You guys are awesome and the pride of general aviation.

True, but I have to go to pilotsofamerica.com to get any excitement.  Everyone being awesome and agreeing is kind of boring....

LOP is bad, and harmful to your engine. Glass cockpits are less reliable than steam gauges. Stop using ipads. They're for hipsters in skinny jeans, not serious pilots. I never lean when I taxi, why would you? The only constant speed on my prop is "fast". I just set it at 2700rpm and firewall the throttle. Oil additivies are aviation voodoo. You can't shock cool an engine. Mooneys are hard to land. Real pilots don't use speed brakes. Mooneys are easy to land. Mooneys are too small inside. People that replace a wet wing with bladders probably also pee sitting down. Engine analyzers are silly toys, real pilots can lean by ear. ANR headsets are worthless. All you need is the hand mic and the cabin speaker. GPS is a fad.

Ok....

Go.

I'm awesome.  You're awesome.  So what's to disagree about?!

Oh - and I would love to wear skinny jeans if I could just squeeze into them!

I have to agree with 201er.  Everyone on this site has been over the top helpful with advice, comments and support for me as I joined the Mooney community, shared my experiences and then totaled my plane.  This site was my primary go to for reading about setting up for landing a Mooney, which is why I greased it on my first two landings.  Now to just get my insurance check and get another one that won't have the landing gear collapse! I miss having a plane!

It's great when other people take advice in stead of the typical low time pilot that comes on mooneyspace and asks a question then argues with accomplished pilots on why they land 10kts faster or with 1/2 flaps or whatever ;)

I realize as a low-time pilot that I generally don't have much to offer in the way of experience. But....I have really appreciated this forum and all the superb folks on here. In one of the first posts I made, one of you suggested I just read through the forum due to the wealth of knowledge that is on this site. Well, I have been doing that and it is amazing the willingness to help others that I have found, not to mention the "gentlemen" like attitude, and the untold knowledge that is here.

Thanks to all of you for this virtual home. It is good to be accepted here, even if I don't own a plane yet.

It just depends on what you want. It is great to hear that we are awesome...at least somebody tells me that!!!

But seriously, the community has really helped me a lot. Every time I asked for advice, I got tons of emails sharing with me good advice that I then can use to talk to my mechanic. Only to have an idea of what to ask saved me a lot of time and money.

On the other hand, the community has also provided me with some nice touches of humor and friendship that puts a smile on my face when I check on my Ipad what is going on between meetings. I can assure you that some of the people that work with me are very grateful for that too.

So let's make sure that we all understand that we are great, handsome and about the skinny jeans... well sorry guys that is for the Cirrus community as somebody mentioned somewhere.

Well, Belgium. Hmmm, people compare it to Maine. Very rainy and cloudy usually. As a VFR pilot it is difficult to get off the ground.

As far as location though, it is tops! You can be in France, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, England, The Netherlands, and a host of other places in a matter of minutes to a few hours.

Having spent some time in Belgium, I got the feeling from people that I was in most of those locations, without even leaving Belgium! B)

That is wholly true. I am surrounded by so many folks from different countries it is incredible. So many different languages too. The only thing we all have in common is poor english! If you like bread, it is like a drug it is soooooo goooood!

Belgium is a unique country for sure. The south speak French, the north speak Flemish (Dutch) and the ones in Brussels won't give into each other so they speak English. I am just here to work for a couple years then time to move on somewhere else.

I have had the opportunity to visit many of the countries around here. The food can be incredible. The Turks know how to put on a spread for sure. I think they have like 6 main courses. Belgians have their little boy peeing and French Fries. They grow a special potato and double cook it in a beef fat; the first time at a lower temp then again at a higher temp. It is a science for them I think.

Bon Weekend!

Bon Weekend!

The statue is known as Manneken Pis. Everybody who visits Brussels has to go see him.
