mooneyflyer Posted September 7 Report Posted September 7 I started looking into a new engine for my Eagle. I have an IO550G. My POH says IO550G. But my TCDS indicates IO550G6. But according to Air Power, Continental no longer makes the G6. What are my options? Quote

Nothing wrong with a new engine, but I might consider just getting a good shop to overhaul what you have. A good shop should be able to do that and end up with an engine as good as a new one (or better). It will probably take less time too. If you want an engine on hand, I might call western skyways and the other big shops to discuss. They might have a core (or know how to get one) they could oh to new limits and take yours on exchange. MooneyMitch Posted September 7 Report Posted September 7 I would speak to Bill Cunningham, PowerMasterEngines www.powermasterengines.com He overhauled my I0-550G. Excellent product and currently in service after 10 years. 1 Quote

If you have the 310bhp STC, you’re authorized to purchase the IO550N(_)B…either Factory Reman or Factory New. You’d replace the (_) with either an “8” if you don’t have air conditioning, or “39” (I believe) if you have ac. This is usually the best and most cost-efficient time to make this change…given the “N” engine variant is the same cost as the “G”. Quote
