Haven’t been able to figure out exactly what this is. It is some kind of homebuilt project from the 1960s

One clue is the engine, it is a Lycoming O-290-G which came from a GPU. You could buy them back then surplus for $50

All horizontally opposed M18 models built prior to 1953 (and the first half of the 1953 models) had Lycoming 0-145's. Those 65Hp Lycomings had two spark plugs mounted side by side on the top of each cylinder. The Lycoming exhaust exits the left side of the fuselage while the later Continental A65 models had the exhaust exit the right side of the fuselage. Good catch on identifying likely engine model. Twice the displacement of the M18 Lycomings.

The lone gear hanging out the bottom of the wing is not retractable, therefore not a Mite.

The Mite has a nice tube steel frame that is quite familiar… looks like a nice Italian motorcycle… or any other Mooney. :)

The unknown frame above has a few wooden parts in the fuselage structure…

Let’s invite @M20Doc he has a mite he can use for comparison…

Looks like it might not be a Mite…

Very similar, But different…

Got any more details or pics…

There should be a tail pic, and an airframe data plaque pic that would be very interesting….
