Is there a posting, or other information source that provides a concise comparison of the pros and cons of each model in the M20 series?

Cons? what cons? they are all good. It just depends on how much Mooney you need.

Take a look at the M20 Wikipedia page. There is a table near the bottom with production year and engine information. This will help through models once  you figure out your "mission".

I hate that page.  There is a wiki-"editor" living under a bridge there who assumes the role of ultimate and unilateral arbiter of all things Mooney.  If you try and trip-trap-trip across his bridge and he doesn't like what you add, he zaps it.  Meh.  Better sources exist.
