milotron Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 I like the knee technique on the lower cowl. I use a rubbermaid box for my K cowl as it is too long to use the knee method on. 1

But we should get together and do a video of taking the cowling off your K... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

Stan Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 As above, same as what I do, except for setting it on a Mechanic's Roller Seat from the Aviation Supply House, Harbor Freight. Hey gents, and I can still do it at 71, of course with a few choice words thrown in. 1 1
toto Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 One more data point... I use a nylon strap (link below) and remove everything. Then I get myself under the cowl and just pop the clasp and the cowl falls down. It's easier than trying to reach camlocks while under the plane, and arguably less fiddly than trying to unhook a bungee. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BSJVW59 1
toto Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 Oh.. one other thing. I put duct tape all the way around the spinner with the sticky side forward. So you can rub the cowl against the spinner if needed without scratching anything. 1

I just edited them out of the video...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

I might try that next time. Thanks for the tip!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
