carusoam Posted December 12, 2020 Report Posted December 12, 2020 Great thinking Pete! Last time an MSer posted such a fine, yet brief, post on the same subject... He was alive and well after landing, and checking in from a nice Japanese restaurant while planning the next day’s activities... Hope you are well also. got any more details to go with that? Best regards, -a- Quote
Pete M Posted December 12, 2020 Author Report Posted December 12, 2020 (edited) Not much. Happened night before last...fortunately near the airport. Fuel servo issue in a 172R. My 3rd in 18 months. They seem to happen with alarming regularity. Funny side note, had met another ms'r two hours before, Alan, the parts guy:) I'm at 39n. Pete Edited December 12, 2020 by Pete M 2 Quote

I used to get lunch at the Japanese place down the street from 39N with Alan / Grimmy / parts guy.... Alan goes on avionics tours every now and then... 39N has a nice Garmin shop.... My O lives in the C row of hangars... by the Robinson helicopters. So.... say hi if you see me! MS makes the world a smaller place! Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

Be sure to do full and partial engine failures, both happen and there is enough of a difference in their treatment to be significant. 2 Quote

Noticed on climb out I was pulling 35gal/hr and trailing smoke. At altitude pulled mixture back. At 18 gal/hr it went stone dead. First shop “did me a favor” and just repaired the servo. Installed it snd it was almost as bad. Sent it to Maxwells fuel shop and asked for a full over haul. Worked great for another 800 hrs until the engine threw a rod. Quote

I'm at the flight school every day. Stop in when you're at the airport. Dont recall seeing an o there...maybe once or twice. Do you fly much? Pete 1 Quote
