Ned Gravel Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Quote: aviatoreb I read somewhere but I am not finding it now - a prop strike is defined as an event that causes any drop in rpms. I doubt that a bird would cause a drop in rpms. Although water or tall grass can be a prop strike. There is great expense, effort and a small amount of risk associated with a tear down (risk because engines are most prone to failure immediately after engine work including any kind of rebuild), so unless called for... aviatoreb Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Quote: edgargravel It all happened very fast, but there was absolutely no change in RPM, even momentarily. Mind you, I was sort of busy and I may not have noticed, but don't really believe that to be the case. Quote
Lionudakis Posted October 17, 2011 Author Report Posted October 17, 2011 My initial rant was that several folks have wanted a runout inspection and bolt on new props. My inspection quote wasa teardown. I refuse to be a part of any such needless risk. Quote
