Boom - just ordered mine.  It will provide Foreflight with synth vision a very capable platform for the yoke. Biggest bang for the buck avionics purchase in existence.  My mini 2 now gets relegated to the right panel as second screen for charts and emergency backup.

What's the delivery time?

April 1st pickup at my nearest store.  Faster if you don't get it engraved.

Anyone know if case size is different from the mini 4? I couldn't figure out online. I need to order a new ram mount since I'm pretty sure my Mini 2 is different (the cradle changed with the 4).

I've had my mini for around five years, time to upgrade so I can continue to use WingX, might just get the mini-4.

The mini4 is $399, same price as mini5 without cellular...I would splurge the extra $129 and get the 5.
It’s got a 25% brighter screen. It’s more than just raw processor speed.

On the apple site there is only the new mini. There is no reason to buy an old model, the cost saving is not really significant. For some things, like TV sets where they have a new model every year and don't change that much between models I think it makes sense to buy the prior year version. But in case of the mini it has been several years. Your new mini 4 will be obsolete several years earlier than your new mini, a false economy.

I plan to buy the 256GB + cellular version for $679. 256GB because you can't upgrade storage, and you can never have too much. Cellular because it is so convenient and has the GPS chip.

Ordered (Mini 5 with the Logitech Crayon). Thanks for the head's up.

I am really looking forward to the 256 GB. So tired of juggling data with iCloud and my 64 GB mini.

Does the Ipad Mini with just WiFi have the GPS chip?

No. My current mini has cellular and it was a very minor convenience and colossal waste of money. It's actually cheaper for me to tether it to my iPhone.

As for GPS, the one onboard is crappy. When I fly it will get GPS from elsewhere (Stratus, Elf, etc.).

I’ve never lost the GPS signal with the onboard unit, even in my all metal hangar

Accuracy trumps acquisition. Also, the iPad GPS is enhanced with cell tower and wi-fi. Without those two it goes to crap. But of course, YMMV.

I'll sell you my Mini 4 with box, charger, and cover for $200.  PM if interested.

To all those who love iwatches. You wait till you need reading glasses.

I have a Apple Watch and some automatics analog ones. From an aesthetic point of view I love my analog watches... however, the information that my Apple Watch provides me is amazing. It even facilitated my medical check up as I was able to provide my Doc with information about my health...

Now, owning a mini iPad that I use exclusively in the cockpit I am looking forward to getting the new one. Mine fits perfectly well on the yoke, without interfering with anything.

I forgot how insanely awesome your panel is.  That little ipad must be intimidated, but it can hold it's own .

Actually, the mini iPad is the central element of the panel. Through the Garmin pilot app I prepare my flight plan and modify it if needed. Key is the Bluetooth connection I have in the cockpit that integrates everything

Where are you these days? Your signature still says Gaithersburg but I thought you went south again.

I went south again, indeed! Last Friday I arrived with my Mooney in Ilopango MSSS where I will stay for the next three years. However, my homebase continues to be KGAI.

I am slightly Irritated that they didn't move to the USB-C charger like all the other modern devices are now.

They did for the new pros, I think because of the power required, mini probably didn’t need it.

I can't wait for the day where I only need to buy 1 cable type.

With three iPads and four iPhones in the house that use the lightning connector I was starting to think it was the new world standard...kind of like SAE sizes (what type of archaic machinery could possibly use SAE ;))

Its not like the company doesn't know how to use a USB-C as all their most recent laptops use USB-C. I am annoyed too.

Exactly. gopros are USB-C. laptops are USB-C. all the new phones are transitioning over to USB-C. The ipad pros are USB-C. Why not make everything Just 1 connection type.
