air cooled dad Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 This weeks layovers included VPS and ECP. Weather is excellent down here. Ocean is warm. Waves are almost nonexistent. Landed the mighty Maddog late last night and already saw a few Mooneys parked at the FBO. Mine should finally be done with her month long annual on Sunday. Too late to enjoy this years festivities. New cylinder, new lndg gear 40/1 gears, gear motor redone, new shock discs, Gami injectors, headrests and a few other items. Enjoy some beautiful flying and beach time!! 1 Quote
Hank Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 Oh, man! I'll be there in the morning . . . have a cold one for me this afternoon! Lord knows I need one this week . . . . 1 Quote
Jeff_S Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 Thanks for reminding me to pack a swimsuit. My question is, do we still get FAA Wings credit if we're playing hooky at the beach?! I'll be there tomorrow morning as well...see y'all soon! Quote
air cooled dad Posted September 28, 2017 Author Report Posted September 28, 2017 Pirep on the climb out to Atlanta... Bases at 5000'. Light chop below. Smooth above the bases. Popcorn clouds scattered enough to find a smooth decent. Winds are from 240/5 surface through 13000'. Above 13000' the winds shift to 090/15 gradually increasing to 20kts by 20000'. Chatting with the ground controller, they are looking forward to seeing all the Mooney's! For those new to this airport, it's a black hole at night!!!! 1 Quote
Raptor05121 Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 Awesome. I'll be wheels up at 8am, be at ECP at 9am. Quote
Sean S Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 I'll be driving, as Stella failed compression test at annual. See everyone Friday! 1 Quote

Guest Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 He probably dreaming of cutting up another Mooney. Clarence Quote
FloridaMan Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 Looks like I'll miss it unless annual is finished on Saturday, which is unlikely. Quote

Hank Posted September 30, 2017 Report Posted September 30, 2017 Sometimes weather happens. But a bad day at the beach is still better than a good day at work! Quote
Raptor05121 Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 I had to leave my plane and drive the 3 hours home. I've got the next week off so I'm calling my CFI tomorrow and getting back into IFR training. It sucks not being able to leave. 3 1 Quote
