MyNameIsNobody Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Saw him decades ago at Oshkosh flying the Rockwell Yellow P-51. He looked great a few years ago in his signature straw hat in front of a FW-190 replica talking about his foe... A legend that now continues to live, like my father that introduced me, in my minds eye. Rest in Peace Bob. Yes, I agree that was "One helluva deflection shot"
mike_elliott Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Rest in Peace, Mr. Hoover. I have enjoyed our conversations and all you have given us. 4

carusoam Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Bob Hoover proved that age has no limitations... Thank you, Bob! Best regards, -a- 1
1964-M20E Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 I do not recall hearing of him until today. A great loss to aviation. I love the video of the airshow awesome.
aviatoreb Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 (edited) This trick is the most AMAZING airmanship demonstration I have ever seen or even heard of. Flying with one hand while pouring ice tea with the other while doing a barrel roll in the meanwhile, and clearly at all time he is managing the force vectors so perfectly that the ice tea falls "down" straight into the cup. BDPetersen Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Master of flight and story. Decades of watching and listening in awe. Now flown west for that final check. A tear on my iPad . . . 1
N201MKTurbo Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 I should say Rest in Peace Bob, seeing that I have his plane as my picture.

Best regards, -a- ...Ran into him at a Lakeland night spot, during SunNFun about ten years ago. Most interesting guy, and of course an amazing pilot. Later, noticed him in the parking lot with two youg ladies. Fighter pilots never change..... RIP, Bob. 1
co2bruce Posted October 26, 2016 Report Posted October 26, 2016 RIP Mr Hoover. I aspire to be 1/10 the pilot you were. You are an inspiration to all aviators. 1
