I agree and I am sad to see it not working right now.  I used Runway finder quite often just to get the distance and direction to fly. I would locate restricted areas and TFRs along the route.

Skyvector got caught up in the patent suit as well with FP and decided to pay license fees instead of shut down.

I never really liked skyvector because it's not very fluid and you can't go from chart to chart like you could with Runwayfinder which was stitched together.  That's just my preference though.  Guess it's better than nothing at this point.

Thankfully, Jeppesen is not playing FP's little game.  They got the same letter as Skyvector and Runwayfinder, but basically told FP to go pound sand.  They are the source for AOPA's online flight planning software which I use 99% of the time for trips.

I got this reply from an inquiry to ForeFlight support:

It is with great sadness that we watch the RunwayFinder.com web site go offline. The aviation community has lost a helpful resource.

RunwayFinder is and has been a valued collaborator with ForeFlight. Dave Parsons is a true innovator. Given our business relationship, some customers have inquired as to whether or not the current matters will affect ForeFlight’s ability to deliver updated charts to ForeFlight HD customers. The answer is simple: ForeFlight will continue to offer all our monthly updates, including downloads of VFR sectional and IFR enroute charts, to customers and expects no interruption of service.

Nothing is more important to Team ForeFlight than your faith, trust, support, and encouragement. We will always strive to live up to that, with the same conviction that drove the first pilots skyward.

Thank you for your support of ForeFlight Mobile!

Sad to see a useful service go under due to coorporate heavyhanded tactics  byt Flight prep

Runway finder is a useful flight planning tool which gives you a good overall view of your flight.  I'm sad to see it go.

IMHO without the Flight Prep he might keep it going.  I agree that the changes on electonic charts will change things for all users GPS, etc.

It would be nice to get a copy of his code just to run on my own computer.  It would not have weather and might not get updated charts but still useful for preliminary flight planning.
