I just noticed on the site header than Mooneyspace now has well over a quarter-million posts!

What a great resource!

In this day and age though the entire database would fit on a thumbdrive.  Does anybody still have a 3.5", or better yet a 5.25" floppy? (Humorous replies pending...)

I have Visio 4.0 on a book shelf.   I had all of MS Office on 2 stacks of 3.5 floppies that I kept on my work desk.  Still have a computer with a 3.5 drive. but donated my compaq portable with 5.25

I remember punching cards for a computer programming class in college and you'd have to have each card in the correct order or the program wouldn't work. There could be hundreds of cards for a simple program and you guarded them with your life because some jokers would move one card. Yep......old school

That's why the cards are all numbered!

I started with a cassette tape, then 5-1/4", then 8", then dual 5-1/4s, then one each 5-1/4 & 3-1/2". Now all I have are several USB ports and a CD/DVD drive. My previous net book had SSD which was very nice. This here stinking iThingy has no output at all, which sucks, as it's not always convenient to upload everything going in or out to iTunes then download it. Stupid!

Since we're off aviation topics about old school.....anyone have 8 track tapes in storage? Or better yet....an 8 track tape player? Those were the days.......and my Mooney is a '65. Puts things in perspective.

Got both. Remember when the track would change in the middle of the song? Now those were the days. That is until the NYC boys started bring cassette tapes to college.

You are in luck. I have an 8 track player in my plane I can let go cheap  I really could not believe it when I bought my plane. A previous owner had installed the tape deck, and the plane did not have an intercom.

1130 ? that's nuthin' .... I could "wire a board" for an accounting/tabulating machine...

I'm still using the HP programmable calculator that I paid two month's rent for in college, before the university equipped a PC lab with dual-floppy stations. Does "RPN" mean anything for a programming language? It was written up in Personal Computing magazine as a portable computer, along with the suitcase-sized units with 4" green screens and fold down keyboards. 

Although I have an app on my phone that replicates it pretty well, I don't think "RPN" would go over well in our sensitive, PC-policed world. Such a shame, the state we've worked ourselves into. Whoever said anyone has the right to never be offended by anyone else? Personally, that idea offends me!

Not sure where you saw this reference, but go to the Home page, scroll down and look on the right side. In your phone, just keep scrolling, it'll eventually pop into view. There's also a post count under everyone's avatar when they post.

I didn't get a PM about my radio/8 track player. I was trying to be funny about selling it cheap. However, we only listened to the radio a couple of times early in the 15 years I have had the plane and I have never put a tape in it. I have never seriously thought about the pros and cons of taking it out and selling it. Also have no idea about what it might be worth.

I'm fairly certain that was a tongue in cheek response from cnoe.......but I've been wrong before.
